Will this team set a new season win total?

This is one of my pet peeves the people that come on here and tell us what we should not be discussing and try to shut down threads. I wonder why those people ever log into a message board in the first place or open up certain threads. If all they want to do is discuss the next game then just open those threads that discuss them.

Mine too, I love dream that Hawkeyes win 30 or more games . I don't understand all the negativity concerning fans coming on board to shoot negative comments. They're the one with narrow minds! Lets have fun , Go Hawks!

Way too many people like this. Blah...... settle down guys 15-3 we could lose the next 13 and miss the ncaa . Dont get excited yet. How dare you start speculation if we can win the next few games, because we haven't played them yet........ if you people want to be owner's, go find a clown message board. They have plenty of reason to be down.

Fran Improves his win total at Iowa by 7 every year. Therefore Iowa will win at least 32 games this year, and 39 next year.

I think we've certainly got a great shot at the pre-NCAA tourney win total of 27 set by the 86-87 team that went 27-4. If we go 14-4 in the B1G and then go 2-1 in the BTT, we'd tie it. Certainly doable. At that point, we'd have to make the Elite 8 to tie the mark of 30 and make the Final Four to break it. At the level this team is currently playing at, it's certainly not out of the question. I can't wait to see what we do against the top 2 teams in the league, standings-wise, over the next week. If we split, we're still on pace, if we sweep.....then "Whoa Nellie"!

I was looking at Seth's post which said 4 in BTT. if we have to play 4 in BTT, we won't be anywhere near the record

Doable, but I don't think it's terribly likely. There are a lot of tough games left on our schedule, and it won't shock me if we end up losing more than 3 more in the regular season.

Remarkable thing about the 1987 team is that they won 30 games without the benefit of a conference tournament, and played 18 conference games, same as we do now. That team was 27-4 in the regular season. Awesome. 28-3 probably would've gotten them a #1 seed. I tend to think of that home loss to OSU as the one that really cost them.

As good as this year's team is, they can only lose one more game if they want to match the loss total for the 1987 regular season. Not happening (at least, I'd be willing to wager on it).

Yeah, that 1987 team was the best Iowa team I've seen in my lifetime, including this year. That said, this year's team is capable of matching and possibly exceeding the Elite 8 achieved by the 1987 squad. So in the end, it's what this team does in March that really matters to me.
