Will the offensive philosopy change next year with more depth

If the Hawks retain all of their eligible players for next year and Tucker comes back, we would potentially have a roster of 13 players fighting for playing time:
Payne, Tucker, Brust, Gatens, Fuller, May, Marble, Cole, Larson, Cougill, McCabe, Brommer Archie

I am not counting on Little Lick or Neari seeing significant playing time.

With this amount of depth, I sure hope we don't stick to the draining the shot clock and shooting 3's with 5 seconds or less type of offense that we have seen a lot of this year.I would love to see some more up tempo style of play and definitely more of an emphasis to at least try to pound the ball inside with Cole, Fuller and Larson.More wins are the easiet way to improve attendance, but creating a more pleasing style of basketball to watch would go a long way in re-perking my interest and a lot of other disgruntled fan's interest in Hawk Basketball next year.* A guy can always hope.

It seems that we should have enough size inside to be able to get the ball in the paint and shouldn't have to just hold the ball on the perimeter for 30 seconds. To me, that would be more pleasing in itself, as I don't care for the style of just shooting alot of 3's. I've always been a fan of a good power game and strong rebounding. A little more uptempt would be nice too. With more depth, the team should be able to do that. Whether they will or not, is a different question.

I don't think the offensive philosopy will change much. I do think it will be ran better with a deeper group of players and you will see Iowa scoring alot more next year!

Lickliter talked a little about this postgame Penn State about how they are always looking at working the player's strengths into the schemes they run. I didn't completely buy it, but tonight opened my eyes.

I think the Hawks have looked for the break more this year than in the past, but the opportunities have been few. There should be more if we eventually have more and better athletes. Also, Lickliter has said a number of times that the purpose of the offense is to get a good shot whenever the opportunity may be presented, whether early in the shot clock or late.

If you're looking for reasons for optimism about a faster-paced offense, those would be the reasons to hope.

Given the consistency of the scoring stats when Lick was at Butler, though, I'll believe it when I see it.

Recalling some past butler games one thing that I think Lick does like to do/does not mind seeing is a quick 3 off of any type of break situation...I think that he looks at it as if the other team is going to give you a break chance its ok to launch because it won't necessarily take your total game possessions down that much...Brust could be a weapon in this capacity next year in the video ive seen of him that seems to be a strength in his game.

I've been trying to figure this system out. People said penetrate and kick to the open shot. I thought it was pass it around the three-point line and jack a three. Get a rebound, stop and let the defense get back, pass it around the three-point..................
