Will King leave for the NFL?

I doubt it. There could be a lot to gain if he gets better in the off season and has an even better year next year...

Or there could be a lot to lose..

Basically, I don't know, but I hope not.

get the insurance policy ... Scherff came back and went #5 in the draft

if the family needs money I can understand leaving ... if not another year to fine tune any weaknesses could be the diffc between the 1st and 3rd rd and a lot of dinero

either way ... I hope his school breaking seasonal pick comes in the BCS Title game

I am not sure he could possibly have a better season than he has had in 2015. He leads the country in picks and his team is 9-0.

Maybe he could work on his kick return skills or maybe even try WR, idk. I know Iowa's scdedule will get a little better in 2016 but it won't be a dramatic difference.

So if his goal is to challenge himself and keep improving, he needs to move to the NFL next season. The financial security can not be ignored either.

Now if he really enjoys the colllege experience, sure he could stick around but it will be for the fun of it.

At the very beginning of the year he was asked and he said no. However I doubt it expected to have the year he is.

I don't think he stays at Iowa. What has Iowa to offer him that he hasn't already mastered? Certainly not an improvement of his cover skills, unless there's a new defensive scheme at Iowa to cover receivers (hint, hope). I believe King will be the next Micah Hyde for some team in the NFL...a good safety.

Does King have the speed to be cornerback in the NFL? I know he doesn't have the skills to be cornerback in the NFL.

King will have an interesting decision. His speed is better than most likely give him credit for. His ability to play routes and find the ball is really unusual/good for a corner in college. He just so rarely gets out of position. Also a very good tackler.

I could see him playing safety, or being a slot corner, or both. I don't know how he could possibly improve his stock over what it will be this year. All in what he is looking for. Don't blame him whatsoever if he gets feedback that he would go in top 3 rounds and he decides to go. Football careers are finite, and can't begrudge a guy wanting to make a living at it while his body allows him to do so.

hoping for the best preparing for the worst in Kings situation. He's going to have guaranteed money on the table at the end of the season.

I can't answer the question since I don't know King personally but if he is projected to be a first round pick then I wouldn't blame him for leaving early.

Well I'm kind of shocked that he would only be the 9th best corner. So if that's the case, then maybe he stays but on the other hand, I don't know how he can have a better year than leading the country in INTs and playing for an undefeated team to improve his draft stock.

As good as King is in pass coverage, I've never seen a corner play the run as well. Dude doesn't miss tackles.

Yes, he said at that time a degree was very important to him and his family. If he's the 9th CB, that's not much security and he's a true junior. I'd bet he comes back. MSUs corner from last season was a top notch draft pick after his junior year and came back.

I'd bet he stays. As others have said, he's a true junior and he has said his degree is important to him. Smart kid.

I'd LOVE for him to come back and be apart of the offense as well next year. I've thought a lot about that is year even. With his ball skills and big play ability, he'd make a heckuva receiver.

2016 Heisman race anyone?

I wouldn't think it would be a difficult decision to return and defend a national championship.

Just sayin'

If he ends up being a first team all american cornerback, I don't see how he doesn't go pro.

Selfish me wants him to come back, but it will depend on what his advisers say. He isn't slow, but there are faster and taller cornerbacks in the league.

He's probably going to be a 2nd or 3rd rounder but that's probably his ceiling due to not having blazing speed or great size.

Cornerbacks dont need need blazing speed to be good at covering. Haden with the Browns is widely regarded as one of the best cover corners and ran a 4.7 at the combine. Rivas ran like a 4.5 I think, but he clearly doesn't have elite speed when you watch him. Charles Woodson was never a blazer. Playing corner is ALL about change of direction in the hip area, or "fluid hips" as mayock says. King is very fluid in open space, more so then any Iowa player I can remember. And what makes anyone on here think he doesn't have speed? He outran marylands receivers on the pick 6. He ran step for step with Boyd on both picks against Pitt. He does take chances but he is rarely out of position. He is as instinctually gifted as any elite corner I have watched this year and I have never once considered speed a concern for him. Just curious why everyone is questioning his speed anyway?

Mediocre corners need to be able to run a 4.4 to make up for being out of position and getting burned frequently; a problem that King doesn't have so far in NCAA ball. Tell us how many times Charles Woodson had to run down a blown coverage...Most of the time he was too busy catching the other team's passes and running the opposite way.

Which sounds a whole lot like Desmond King.
