Will KF ever be the aggressor?

how true! And for the kids not to **** on the toilet seat! Some things will never change.

+1 to all previous posters. The play calling at the end continues to be a head-scratcher.

Conservatism is KF's schtick. OK...I get it...it works well for the most part.

But c'mon, there are times and circumstances where that dog don't hunt. @OSU two years ago...and again today.

1:17 and TO's left and WE SIT ON IT??? WHY? We didn't have the momentum going into OT, we were on the road, we AGAIN had our destiny in our hands and we simply walk away and "hope" we can win in OT???. We can't go 35-40 yards in 1:17 with TO's left and try a game ending FG???? What was there to lose??

4th and 1 in OT and we kick a worthless FG when it was evident we weren't stopping the QB the entire 2nd half. Again....WHY????

I really really really don't get it.

All true insight here. Poor tackling aside. DB's should have been told not to lose the receivers in the patterns. How many wide open passes were made. Ooops, wrong thread....answer "Not very often".

PS. Those cabinet doors are a breeze to put up with vs the refrigerator and oven doors.

There was a thread a couple weeks back all over Ferentz's jock because he hadn't been beaten by double digits since 2007...a tribute to his conservativism. The drawback to that style is that we keep teams in the game that we should be able to handle.

I wonder how many would trade getting worked every so often in exchange for more consistently beating the teams we "should" beat? On a day like today, I think that number would be considerable.

You pretty much summed up what I was going to say. Again, these aren't "being aggressive" calls they are COMMON SENSE. You have that little confidence in your QB with that much time and 2 TO's to try and get a field goal? And you have that little confidence in your OL and Coker to pick up a yard? But, you have that much confidence in your D to stop them when clearly they showed that they couldn't twice in a row. Just makes no sense. Everyone and their dog knew it was over after he kicked that field goal.

I think we all know Kirk well enough by now to know that the answer to that question is a definite NO.

We will continue to kick FG's on 4th and Goal at the 1 yard line. We will just hand off with 1 minute left in the 4th and 2 timeouts left in a tied game. We will punt on 4th and 1 from the opponents 35 yard line. And we will lose at least 2 games a year to inferior opponents because of this.

This is not a knee-jerk reaction to this particular game. This has been my opinion for the past several years.

We have seen this movie before, and it will be the same the rest of this year and beyond. So get used to it.

No..Kirk has done a lot of good for Iowa, I thinkoverall we are in good hands but we will never reach the next level with him until his balls drop.

No.Job security, conservative. How does this surprise people?Iowa has the longest tenured coach in the Big Ten and this is what we've seen each and every year.

It's one thing to be blindly loyal to Kirk, but it's another thing to not realize that there's a problem that is keeping us from the "next level". Kirk is conservative and loyal to a fault. That's okay if you want to have an occasional awesome season once in awhile, but not if you want to be winning outright B10 titles consistently. Some people may be okay with doing average most seasons and having the occasional awesome season, but I am not. And I'm NOT buying into the "Well, we're lowly little Iowa and should already be satisfied with how well we've been doing" talk. That's ********. Tell that to Nebraska.

Just like Alford will take us to the next level! We are a lot closer to being Iowa St. than we are to being an OSU or Michigan. I'll take Ferentz and his conservatism over being 5-7 every year.

Awesome. Let's not even try then, right?

I am definitely not suggesting to get rid of Kirk. All I'm saying is that these are things that can be corrected. A coach that is top-10 paid should know how to manage a game clock. He should know that you don't play for OT in somebody else's place, especially when you have 1:17 left and 2 TO's left!!! Way to instill confidence in your QB, Kirk. AND you don't play for OT when your D has sucked it up all game. These are things that a coach getting paid as much as him should be able correct/know.
