Will Jok score 20 a game next year?

I think Jok will be the first Hawk to average 20 a game since Haluska and give Iowa it's 4th straight year with a 1st Team All Big 10 performer.

I think Jok should get a minimum of 15 shots a game and see plenty of games with him launching 20+ shots. He was told to work on his ball handling, so if he ends up playing some PG he may just end up bringing the ball up and launching from 25 feet if left unguarded - he has never been shy about shooting and I like that about him.

The bigger question is who will be the Hawks # 2 and # 3 option for scoring. I think Uhl can make a jump and average 10+ points a game and I think Cook is talented enough to score 8-10 points a game as a true freshman.
 
The question is, will he ever score 30 in a game. He always seems to get into the high 20s and doesn't score again.

If he doesn't average 20 he'll be really close to it
 
If he gets beyond just being a catch and shoot guy, absolutely......otherwise what hawk5656 posted he will give you 18 or 19 a game.
 
It all depends on if we have any other actual offensive threats. If we don't, then the defense will just key on Jok and never let him get open. It was pretty apparent last year that as soon as teams got physical with him and stayed in his face, he didn't have as much of a game. He doesn't have the skills to dribble drive past good defenders when they're up on him. Hopefully our other shooters can keep the pressure off him by making their open shots.

Yep. I think Jok needs to be able to start taking it off the dribble (which means he needs to develop his handles a lit bit more) so that he can draw fouls at the rim and get to the ft line 6-8 times per game. He does that, he's 20+ (assuming everyone else performs to the degree that teams just can't totally collapse on Jok.

Agree. If Jok has to go 1 on 3, he doesn't really stand a chance. We need to have pressure valves to keep teams honest, defensively.
 
Assuming others play their roles sufficiently I see no reason why Jok won't average 20/ppg... but I can't imagine him averaging 10 seconds a game playing point guard.

I don't see it happening.

In order for Jok to do so & play winning bball he will need a consistent 2nd option (preferably a big) for the defense to focus on.

I just see too many "If ______ can do ____ ..."
Questions.

I'm afraid that IF he does average 20ppg we have a frustrating season.
 
Under 20

I hope the season goes something like Jok gets off to a slow start because he gets all the focus from the D. By the middle of the season we have some guys like Baer, Moss, Williams, Cook, that prove they can be legit scorers. By this point Jok will have some pressure of him and D will have more threats to worry about and Jok finishes the year strong and leads the Hawks to another NCAA tourney appearance.
 
Jok will have to improve a lot to be a consistent go to guy. I think the team next year is going to be more balanced with Jok one of the top two scorers on the team. Jok is a great shooter, but he isn't really a great ball handler. Being injured for a couple of years in high school set him back. He did improve a great deal from his sophomore to junior year.
 
At this point in time, I will take the under on that...until other consistent scoring options emerge and prove themselves. I think he'll hoist a lot of shots...but I'd wager his shooting percentage from three will be below what it was this year.
 
I'll take the under. Unless he REALLY improves the rest of his game he can't get his own shot. I'm almost more graceful than Jok while driving to the hoop. Ok, that's a lie

I think Fran will give him the green light like last year if it is within reason. Hopefully, the team will be more balanced in scoring next year. If Jok was to just put shots up it isn't going to help his NBA hopes next year. He will score his points, especially if he can improve his ball handling. Improved ball handling, defense, and rebounding will get him looks in the NBA. I think the NBA already knows he can shoot. I'm looking forward to seeing Jok score, but there are a lot of other guys on the team that should be pretty good offensively.
 
I hope he doesn't score 20 a game. Hawks need more balanced scoring. 20 is really hard anyway.
