Will Iowa's recent attack to fix the WR position bring changes to the offense?

There is a huge effort by the Hawk staff to upgrade the WR position. With an emphasis on speed, any thoughts on how this might affect the offensive philosophy?

It should. If you recruit 4* guys and you don't use their talents then what's the point of recruiting them. You can't just use them for blocking. If they get separation and don't receive the ball..........well you get my drift.

We had a different OC but when we had McNutt and DJk we indeed utilize them differently. It also opened the run up more.

Yes. If the offensive philosophy doesn't change to, then the talent will be mitigated. But, having WR's that can make db's turn their backs to the LOS will help the running game. To force the db's to continue to respect the WR's, you have to throw to them. So, I believe the offensive philosophy will change. Don't forget that we are in the middle of an increase in qb talent, also.

Greg Davis has WR speed in his offensive philosophy he's been pushing for it since he got here and see Texas. He had to change is philosophy when he got here because we did not have it. It seems from his past that his offensive philosophy is at its best when he has speedy WRs and a mobile QB and Ricky Williams of course helped.

Yup they all go together.. A couple players I wondered about are T Smith from the last couple yrs and back when Keenan Davis was a Hawk. Both of them seemed to have big time talent with underwhelming production. How much of that is on them, their qb, coaches/offense in general? It's hard to tell for sure. But both of those guys had me pining for more after their careers
