Will Iowa Have...

As others have said, I think if Hampton stays healthy he will go for over 1000 and probably get > 60% of the carries.

I do think he is going to improve on that, noticeably so. But I suppose one has to ask themselves: do you want Stanzi shaking off his jitters (or whatever it is that makes him not look so good in the first half) early in the game, when we've proven that we can overcome those mistakes, or do you want to risk him doing that in the second half? I'll take the former.

It is one thing to have first half jitters, but don't call it jitters when it is poor descision making. Again, I have no real issue with Stanzi, just too many INT's.
At some point, though, when you are constantly in those situations, you lose. Iowa couldn't come back from the ill-descisions that were made against Northwestern once Stanzi got hurt.
You simply cannot continue to expect the Defense to bail you out every single game. Is the Iowa D that good, most of the time. Iowa cannot afford to do that against, ISU/Arizona/Wisc/OSU/Northwestern, all those teams are better this year, is Iowa?
I completely agree with you, Stanzi will improve. With the WR/TE/RB groups he has, unless he buckles under the hype, he will be better.
That is why I think pound the ball early, let the game slow down and then let the Offense loose.

I've always thought that when healthy, Hampton is Iowa's best running back. Each of them brings their own skill-set, but Hampton is the guy I expect to emerge this season and gain the majority of the snaps.

Arob will be a great backup (similar to Hampton in 2008) and the jury is still out on what's happening with Wegher. Lets just assume he will not be back this season.

Running back depth is so essential this year with the young O-line. Lets home the younger guys are able to step in if needed (and they will be needed, at some point).

1500 yards per game isn't really a whole lot. It's close to what Iowa did last year I believe. I'd be comfortable with a 160 per game average which would be about 1,720 yards

Man, you must be expecting our vaunted defense to regain possession about every other down and the OL to allow our backs to run wild the whole game. I know the D is supposed to be good, but I'm not sure they're that good! :D

Seriously, I doubt we see any of the backs get 1,000 rushing yards for the season. I think the ball-carrying duties will be split two, even three ways, keeping down individual yardage. Given our record at the position it also wouldn't surprise me to lose somebody to injuries midway through the season, although I hope not. (There, I said it. So hopefully the jinx is off ...)

I think if Hampton is healthy, it won't be a "3 series and switch" running back situation like it was last year with Wegher and Robinson. Just my opinion (and nothing against ARob), but Hampton is a much better back than Robinson is and if he stays healthy he should get to 1,000 yards this year, even without getting to play EIU.

Will Iowa have a 1000 yard rusher this year? I'm not sure if Iowa will have one this year as I believe the #1 and #2 backs will have a 60 to 40 split carry this season.

Any thoughts if you think Iowa will have a 1000 yard rusher and if the ball carry split will be around 60 - 40?

Yes.
