Agreed. I would expect 10-11,000 actual attendance, even without the students there.

I doubt it sells out or anything like that but basketball is slowly starting to matter again in Iowa. I could definitely see a decent crowd.

Iowa didn't draw very well the last two times they hosted NiT games. Played Penn St. and Georgia here back when Davis was still coaching and lost both games. I think one game was a late start and the place was almost empty.

The NIT Louisiana Tech game at CHA where we lost on a last second shot around the FT line had a lot of people there.

Different expectations back then though, we were used to annual NCAA bids and when we did not get there the NIT did not get much interest. Hopefully we can get back to being able to loathe NIT bids because we are in the NCAA every year. But coming off back to back 20 loss seasons most of us welcome the NIT bid as it is showing progress so I would expect to see this game to be attended better.

I was one of the few people that attended the NIT game against Georgia. I do not think there was 6000 fans in attendance. It was Ricky Davis's only season in an Iowa uniform, that team won 20 games and was expected to be in the NCAA. Georgia came in with around a .500 record and wanted the game more than Iowa did. It was not a good effort by the team.

I wondered the same thing and I agree - may as well break out the gold.

I have to believe attendance would be decent for this game. First post-season tournament of any form in 6 years, and fan excitement is building. If the amount of activity on this board about an NIT game is any indication, the rest of the fan base will probably be looking forward to this game as well (I hope).

While it is true the seniors got framed gold uni's on senior day, I doubt they were the game worn ones. If Fran wants the gold uni's, they will be available.

I believe that was Georgia Tech wasn't it? If its the same game I am remembering Chris Bosh was on that team.
