the idea that this approach works well in college has merit - the coach has different powers - the player needs the coach for his scholarship - in the pros it's vice versa - and players keep churning thru a college - so players won't get 'worn' on the message -
As a Rams fan, please let it be soAs a 9ers fan; I fear a slip back into irrelevancy.
As another rams fan I hope so. It will happen. Ownership and players blaming one man for all the troubles? Sometimes when everybody has a problem with you it is a you problem. Time to look in the mirror. And every once-in-a-while if everybody has a problem with you it's because you're a trailblazer. My take: Sounds like he was pushing continually to combat complacency. The players kept wanting to have the "we have arrived moment", but Harbaugh kept pushing to keep them on top.

That's the biggest issue/difference between pros and college I feel. It's just the handling of the players day in day out. Not the Xs and Os so much or the on the field aspects. It's at the one side your dealing with grown men that are pros many of which (all of the stars) are making more $ then you are. On the other side you have young men that aren't getting paid a thing (cough cough) on a 3 to 5 yr window who are much more apt to hang on every word the coach says. Pro coaches want more power then they have usually (not many are gms too yet they all want it) and college coaches have just about full power of their programs on not only recruiting but the day to day operations. Also players in the pros have more worth on the teams then coaches some of the time. They can get coaches fired in some cases. Kids in college really don't wield that kind of weight.
