More concerned with Hock staying or going. From day 1 I was thinking Fant was leaving anyway, unless he got injured.
Hock is injured. Seen limping badly from Kinnick saturday night...per Chad Listiko of the Des Moines Register

I’ll be surprised if we see him play at Iowa again. He’s too talented and too immature to play for Ferentz

With a PETTY old coach he should just call it now....FANT has to much talent for KF that is a fact, but to call him immature is stupid period!

no kidding, he comes off as very mature and poised when he speaks to the media. They asked him why he is not playing, and Fant said he doesn't know why, but I'm sure he does.

Fant has never been a good fit for Iowa Kirk ball, wants to score too much.

I can't think of a scenario where he would return to Iowa.

I'll be the first to admit, I heard the immature comments 3rd hand (a friend of mine is in regular contact with Iowa assistants). I don't claim to know the situation personally but I heard enough of the the same things to make me believe it.

But basically I've heard the coaches like him, he's a nice kid, but he's like a little kid. He doesn't want to prepare and take things seriously. And judging from when I've seen of him playing live when I've seen other players telling him where to line up after the huddle breaks and on TV when he is consistently making mental errors. He reminds me of when I would watch Willies. The big difference is, Willies bolted. Mainly because Kirk can't handle talented playmakers with egos. His own ego is too big.

Lets be real here now. Fant has all world talent. It wasn't developed at Iowa. He came in looking like an All American. Iowa was running jet sweeps to him as a true freshman.

So how was Iowa, one of the poorest recruiting staffs in the country able to land him? Why did he not have offers from every major school? Something is fishy here and I think we're seeing it. Iowa took a gamble on a very talented kid who has issues. And because Kirk can't handle those types of players, we're seeing it blow up in his face.

With Kirk and Brian at the helm, there isn't any extra room for "egos" to exist.

Recruit kids with low egos, willing to work, willing to be coached, willing to be a team and you get the goals you set.

7-5, 6-6, 8-4...bowl, bonuses, decades at the helm, longevity records, $$$$$$$.

All this with no titles, no rose bowl wins, being owned by Northwestern, etc. Pretty astounding, actually.

He is gone. Long gone! Thanks to Mr. (Ferentz), we have missed our shot. He barked and the birds have flown. Gone. Gone. Gone! Lucky Ned and his cohort gone. Your fifty dollars gone. Gone the whiskey - seized in evidence. The trail is cold, if there ever was one.
