Will Duncan be a Nate Kaeding duplicate?

Pretty exciting to see a true freshman running first team at placekicker. Duncan came out of nowhere.....or so it seems. Will he be a Nate Kaeding duplicate? Thoughts??

Dude must be doing something right to earn the spot but let's let the kid play a game before we start a comparison to the best kicker in the history of the program.

His stats from his senior year are pretty impressive. I was blown away when I read them. He got a lot of kicks his senior year, similar to the amount in college.

From his bio page. Doesn't get much better than this.

. . connected on 22-of-29 field goal attempts as a senior with a long of 54 yards, and five of over 50 yards, with the seven misses coming from 53-yards and beyond . . . did not miss from 50-yards and in (17-17) . . . made all 60 PAT attempts while scoring 126 points .

I just hope people are more patient with him than they were with Koehn. People forget that Koehn started 2-5 in his career and actually lost FG duties during a game to Ellis. Kickers generally start slow and it was at a time when Iowa wasn't blowing people out. Hopefully Duncan can settle in before the Big Ten season.

Duncan has a long ways to go to be put in the company of Kaeding but he does come with good credentials. If he wants to be thought of as one of the best by the time he's done here, he has the talent, he is in control of his career pans out.

I would be happy if becomes another Mike Meyer. Meyer walked on as a freshman and won the starting job by game 3 of his freshman season, then ended up starting for 4 years. A decent under-rated kicker, just for some reason, did not have any memorable games.

I would be ecstatic if Duncan turns into the next Keading, but that is hard to match.
