Been thinking about this one.

I think Brandon will play the first play or series, then sit for the rest of the game. Ferentz has done this before with injured starters who set the tone for the team...it's a mental thing, i think. I remember him doing this with a very injured Weisman a year or two ago. Went in the game, didn't even run, but was in the game a play, then sat the rest of the game.

What do you all think?

I think we could be witnessing the single greatest trolling of ISU ever.
Maybe the "leak" about the surgery wasn't as unplanned or unwelcomed as the presser would make it seem.

Maybe it coming out that Brandon was practicing today is the smokescreen?

Who knows? KF knows, that's who!

Muahahahaha

maybe Coach is not as vanilla as some think......

:)

no, these next few games aren't worth further endangering his pro career over. This move (surgery) is the right one.

I say no way he plays ... Not worth the risk ... If he is hobbled at all Kirk is not going to risk it (which I agree)...

It's actually not that crazy of an idea To at least have him in uniform for the teams sake, to have their tough guy with them. I would suspect he won't play but I wouldn't be shocked to see something like this. It sounds line with a meniscus that once surgery had been done, the problem is gone, it's not a strength or stability issue, just pain and swelling. We have lots if stuff for pain so that wouldn't be a huge issue, maybe just a swelling issue. Never know boys

Need more info to really have any idea. If he can further damage anything by playing this week, absolutely not. I think we are going to want/need him to play at Pitt, but again, if he can further damage the knee, you can't risk it and at that point, I think you wait until Indiana.

Regardless, we need to get back to running the ball, both ways. The RB's need to find the holes, I watched both games twice, the holes are there, maybe not gapping, but they are their. The vision of the rb's has not been great thusfar and the only back that can make a 3-4 yard gain running into a pile is MW, which is not the ideal scenario and what the coaches are tryng to get away from. That said, although the holes are there, they close very quickly with 8-9-10 guys in the box.....thus the circular argument that its not just the line, not just the lack of RB vision, and not just the lack of vertical threat....it's a combination of all three. The good news is just a tiny improvement in all three areas will translate to HUGE improvement overall.

I'll set the over/under at 0%. I'll take the under.

Since he's a named captain, I fully expect him to be in uniform and maybe even go through the stretches...

Ferentz will send him in for a play late in the 2nd quarter and then call a timeout when they line up. Then he'll sit Scherff the rest of the day and snort at KCRG.

Not true. All types of meniscus tears and some require months of recuperation and therapy and can certainly involve strength and stability. He may be back soon or this may drag on for quite some time. Ferentz seems to infer that he could return sooner vs. later so I'll go with that for the time being although I can see why he would be guarded in offering anything.
