Will Beathard Need Quick Reads Against Mich St?

To offset Calhoun and Mich. St. pass rush, I wonder if the game plan will be to have Beathard get the ball out faster. I believe they have already streamlined his reads to only half of the field and to two reads instead of 3 or 4. I think they will have to either run him a bit more or try to have quick reads to get the ball out to offset a potential pass rush. Just my thoughts. So excited!

Probably have to get it out quick early to slow them down a bit and back them off. Casey hits a couple short passes with some YAC, then he scrambles for some nice gains, Then...its lights out. CJ unleashes it, laser passes to tight spaces and bmobs of 60 yards plus. Biggest game of his life. Afterwards, he shrugs it off, no big deal. Next...

I would expect roll outs, quick reads, miss direction, screens and QB designed runs. A good mix of plays to keep the defense guessing. Some early pass completions will be needed to keep the defense wary. Lots of full back led runs. Tight ends blocking. Double Calhoun

As I mentioned in an earlier thread, I expect us to employ A LOT of shotgun like we did against Pitt. It worked then and it'll work tomorrow!

Go Hawks!

CJB's football IQ is underrated....He is a smart dude. Barring injury limitations to CJB, the entire playbook is open to whatever Davis/Ferentz want to do. I think Leshun Daniels is the key to this. If we get the aggressive LD, that sets everything up for Canzeri, the bootleg/waggle PA, chunk yardage. Gotta get 4 or 5 yards a pop on first and second down.

Chuck Long has mentioned a couple times on the BIG radio that he thinks to simplify for Beathard, that they have him only reading one side of the field which would be a couple reads. I'll have to watch tomorrow night to see if he only looks to one side on a play.

I would like to see a few quick fly patterns, 2 steps and throw.
Gets ball out quickly, should still be 1 on 1 as safety won't get to the side line that quickly
Tevaun & Matt both have very good hands a WR or D pass interference is possibility
Gets the DB's form jumping routes if we show willingness to go over the top.
Even mix in a few TE seam routes, those can be released within 2 sec of the snap.
