Due to the amazing growth of this site in it's first two weeeks we are moving to a dedicated server. It's quadrupling the cost I have to pay but it's neccessary in order to keep the new hawkeyenation.com moving forward.
Yesterday marked two full weeks here at the new site. Here are some totals we hit in just 14 days at a place that didn't exist prior to 10-18:
Nearly 50,000 unique users. That's about how many people were In Jack Trice Stadium this year for the Iowa-ISU game. A good crowd fo ISU, a phenomenal pace for a brand new website.
Over 1.5 million page views (or hits)
An average time spent on site of nearly 9 minutes! That is called stickiness in web sales terms
9 pages viewed per visitor on the average
These are just a few of the mind blowing numbers from the first 14 days. These numbers project monthly to about 80% of what we were doing at our old digs which had bsen around for six years. Those were solid numbers too. It's just that you don't see this type of growth out of the box. I knew the hawkeyenation.com name was a strong brand but this has blown me away.
That being said, it's you the fans that have made the brand strong and I am grateful that you are giving me the opportunity to keep being an outlet for Hawkeye news for you as a part of your daily Hawkeye online experience.
We don't expect any major issues and things should be working normally no late than 7am. You may actually notice an increase in loadin speed and performance because we are moving into a set up that can really, really cook
