Why won't Greg Davis run the ball?

Rutgers feed its RB the ball 35 times for 187 yds. Iowa gave its RB the ball 25 times for 161.

When your RB's are averaging over 6 yards per carry is is criminal that they don't get AT LEAST 35 carries, and should be closer to 40+ carries.

Greg Davis...while there are a few reasons we are struggling...his offensive playcalling, philosophy, and inability to take advantage of the talent he Does have....is the #1 issue.

Bigger question is why does our offense suck every year?

We have a senior QB, -experienced OL, two very good RB and we can't do anything.

We've had one OK year under GD, and that was last year.

I'm just so tired of watching the most painful, boring, uninspiring team in the nation. These games aren't fun

I have never been a fan of Davis. Our offensive play calling much of the time is usually somewhere between head scratching and maddening. This season with Daniels and Wadley we should be having a huge offensive year between their talent and CJ's talent, but we are struggling to score against an FCS team and the worst team in the B1G. Our defense has played well for the most part, but the offense is not helping them out.

Bingo...in addition, you know what running the ball does...it opens throwing lanes, slows the pass rush, and makes play action effective. By why would we want any of those things.

I have a buddy who said brian ferentz is in charge of the line and running and davis in charge of passing. Not sure if he really believes this. But it does seem to have truth. Because obviously there isnt much of an oc

Why can't we use our weapons? Do we ever play to our strengths? Maybe even have designed pass plays to our RBs? Get teams to come forward more to then open up other passing lanes?

KF does what he does. He wants balance, no matter what team we are playing or their weaknesses.

Notice how other teams seem to exploit this? Wait till we play WI and they run for 300 yards because we can't tackle. Wait till MI tears our OL and CJ up because there's no threat

Thanks Barta for another 10 years of below average, and worst of all, boring football

haha, and one of the running plays was that goofy reverse to Scheel on the last game possession when L daniels had just ripped up a first down on 2 runs to get a first down.

That to me was a crazy time for that play call as it can lose 5 yards. But I agree this offense doesnt seem to be in a rhythm because of the playcalling is a mish match of unconnected plays.

Why do our QB's always seem to regress? No doubt CJ has as much talent as any QB we've had but I don't see the improvement. I realize he's been injured but I expected him to be more confident about where he wanted to go with the ball. He seemed much more confident last year. If Banks had another year I bet he would have been worse to, just a guess.

yeah...the O-Line was dominating in the run game the second half. They should have kept the ball on the ground. I almost had a heart attack when he ran a reverse after his offensive line opened two huge holes for a first down on that last drive...really, a reverse...why. Just pound at that point. There was no way Rutgers was stopping those guys at the end of the game. The other drive after their touchdown and after the King return...run the damn ball...instead, sack and back we go...what a momentum killer. Thanks Greg. I thought he had a great year last year...but I'm baffled with what we did today with play selection. It's clear CJ is not 100% and he's taken way too many shots / hits already. Protect him and run the damn ball.

Stop it. You're talking like somebody who thinks just because we got back 2 of our best linemen that we can run against the second worst run defense in the conference and that our running backs average over 6 yards a carry during the game that we should run more. Troll

This was the frustrating part of today's game. It was obvious our O-line could punch holes in their D-line and we were easily getting yards on the ground, even when they stacked 8-9 in the box. Our drives sputtered every time we decided to pass the ball.

We should have won by at least 3 touch downs.

I was listening to Jon/Steve's podcast last week according to Jon we are second to last in the number of plays ran. Which tells me a couple of things: A) The defense can't get off the field. B) Waay too many 3 and outs.

I with everyone else just run the f***** football. Blitz pick up right now is hot garbage and everyone is fault. Run the football and start moving the pocket, bootlegs, waggles etc. At one time CJB was good at throwing on run, now I am not sure, but you can't just keep beating your head against the wall like this.

I think part of it there's still a lingering impression of an OL weakness from last week and we were trying to game plan around that. This is such an atypcial team for KF in some ways.
