Why we could win 9 games this year…

This thread could also be titled "Why we could lose 9 games this year..."

Or why we could win 8 games, or 7, or lose that many...the best part is that we'll see this thread in variation about 37 more times before the season starts.

Be careful name-dropping.I would just suggest saying it came from a current player or something to that effect. Thanks for the info though.

in terms of level of talent, i don't think it's too far off. however Iowa's schedule, and the big 10, isn't as tough as it was in 2000.

Thats absurd.

Iowa has had 3 of the best recruiting classes they've ever signed the past three years.

Iowa probably has 5 or 6 future pros on the offensive line alone.

The issue with this team is a huge lack of experience.

Wow this is dumb. Win 9 games, lose 9 games it doesnt matter. Producing NFL talent and getting kids ready for the next level is the main and only goal here. We need to focus on that. If you think the amount of wins makes a good program then you are not an Iowa fan. Lets get 9 players to the NFL and show the country who has the best football program. Go Hawks.

We could start out winning 7 of 9...

Simply ridiculous. We are so far ahead of the 2000 team in regard to player development and talent level it's a ridiculous comparison. We are young in a few areas, but we have a senior QB and the makings of a very good offensive line. Our back seven on defense is light years ahead of what was on the field in 2000. RB and defensive line are the only major question marks, but even in those positions there is reason for optimism and an upside surprise.

I think the team has a shot at 9-3, but some things definitely have to go our way.

If we win more than 6-7 I'd be surprised

If Iowa goes with the same front 4 they had in the spring, Iowa will not win 6 games. Its f'n bad. Iowa desperately needs Alvis back and Carl Davis to step up. Not that you want to or depend on this, but could use help from some of the true freshman on the defensive front.

What would be everyone's prediction if we were going into this coming season with the exact same team but instead of Vandy as our QB it was going to be Rudock?

So you'd be happy with 9 wins then...Right? I know I'd take 9 wins. As long as we beat the teams that we should beat like the first 5 games. Otherwise it will be another woulda, coulda been seasons. Kinda like the last 3 yrs.
