I assume Iowa somehow fits the same amount of practice time into fewer days than some other teams?

You are allowed 34 days to have 15 practices. Only 12 of the 15 practices can have contact and it is not allowed until the 3rd practice. You can only tackle in 8 of the 12 contact sessions. Only 3 of those 8 practices can have 11 on 11 drills.

So yes, the difference is that Iowa doesnt spread it out as much as some other schools.

Who cares about that... I want to know why we are the only team in the Big Ten that has the controlled scrimmage and not an actual Spring Game.

Spring practices scheduled around weather, facilities and school's Spring vacation. Iowa will have Spring scrimmage on April 14 but will have 3 practices after that date. The reason is the Olympic tryouts created a scheduling conflict.

As for scrimmage vs actual game, I dont care. Coaches are often on field in either case and contact is limited on QB. Kirk does what he feels is best for his team and I am okay with that.

If BIG and NCAA approved scrimmages with other schools, that would be much more interesting. Dont think it will happen but maybe ????

This is what KF said at tonight's children's fundraiser. The wrestlers, and the spring practices ending not on Sat, but on the 21st.

I actually like the Iowa scrimmage better. It's easier to get a glimpse of more players actually participating. When I watched Stanzi and Jake the year Stanzi took the reigns it was obvious that he had made up a lot of ground on JC. You don't necessarily get to see that in a spring game environment with more limited reps for your non-starters.

Well I will say that most of the "We Want Banks" hype in 2001 came from the Spring GAME not the spring Practice. Ferentz just ignored those chants anyways... and stuck with McCann the whole year. But I'm just sayin...

Just curious. What was their GPA?

Last year when they beat Braska, Braska fans were saying they were to smart and figured out the play calling.:D:D Leave it to Braska, the one team in the B10 to come up with that one. Is that not like saying they lost to Bucky because they eat to much up there and their lines are 300+?
Run whatcha brung, that's my motto.;)
