Why the early December Big Ten games

I don't remember seeing this before or at least in the last 40 years.

Did the big 10 Tourney get moved up a week or something.

What was the reason the PSU and Indiana games got scheduled so early?

Because the B1G wanted the B1G tourny at MSG. Because the Big East controls MSG at that time of year, the B1G needed to move the B1G tourny up one week. In order to have 18 B1G regular season games, the B1G needed to move 2 games into early December.

It's all a money grab.

Just my 2¢ .. .. GO HAWKS!!!

The B1G tourney is also a week early - which I think can cause a distinct disadvantage - or potentially could help rest. It depends on how you look at it. They are going to get close to 2 weeks off between games depending on when they get bounced. The smaller conferences have been dealing with that for years tho, so I don't have any solid take one way or the other. But, it's a dynamic that will be different for certain.

I think its a bad deal all around for the Big Ten...a mess of their own making. Not only could it screw over a Big Ten bubble team, I wouldn't be surprised to see a few teams get bounced early in the tournament. Too much rest can kill momentum and rhythm.

Iowa's longest break between games this entire season is 7 days....and that's because of xmas break. Even during finals week they only have 5 days off. Even if Iowa makes the BTT championship game they'll get 10-11 days off before the tournament.
