Why not run this wide open 2 minute O always?

Pitt's defense softened up a lot in the fourth quarter, making it easier to do what we did.

Which is what most defenses do at the end of the half to prevent the big play.

The idea that they "softened up" or went into a prevent defense like another poster said is absurd. If they were in prevent they would have never had that crucial defensive holding call in the 4th when KMM got behind the safety and he grabbed him.

The fact is, they weren't able to stack the box with 8-9 like they did throughout much of the first half. Teams run the WCO, spread or any shotgun based offense for the purpose of spreading the defense out and forcing linebackers deep into coverage. This is exactly why Pitt wasn't able to bring the pressure in the game late. When you are in the shotgun, you also give your qb more time to read coverages and deliver the ball quickly without the drop back.

Disagree here, actually we were luck they weren't playing prevent it allowed KMM to be one on one twice with a LB. The no huddle has it's place, turn on the tape and watch there DL get little to no pressure without help in the fourth. Facts are if we stick with Pro-style, run coker, pass on third and long to a tight end it will be a long season. Coker is no Greene,Herman is no Myers or Reisner, as much as we would like them to be. however we do have one of the best WR corps in the nation.
