Why Not More Love For Marble?

This. Which is something i have a problem with. Fran always just lets them play. Call a TO and set something up. Pet peeve of mine.

That's tough. I think he deserves it but....

Craft
Harris/Appling
Stauskas

To be honest, I'm not sure how they select teams if it is by position or not but I feel at least these 3 spots will be taken with these 4 guys.

Interestingly enough...all of those guys have had bad stretches...or injury problems.

Craft getting it would be a joke.

So.... first team all-conference? Yes. or No.

It could be tough, but he's got a solid chance right now. If he keeps playing the way he did today, he's a lock with a solid chance at POY. It also depends on how guard-heavy they want to get. Payne is really the only lock for big men, IMO. Harris and Ferrell are also locks. After that, I think you pick two from the following pool:

Marble
Stauskas
Andre Hollins
Appling
Petteway
Crawford

I would put Marble on my first team, but I can easily see the voters going with Appling and Stauskas. It's going to be very tough for voters to pick from the guards this year; you throw out just about any one of those names and I'd instantly think he's first team material, but most won't make the cut. I don't see Craft getting on first team at all. His offensive limitations have been really highlighted this year (not to mention the fact that OSU has really struggled in conference play this year), and I don't think his defense/reputation will be enough to overcome that. Not in this year's guard class.

Ferrell goes from lock to the pool you have listed IMO. He's averaging 4.0 assists and 2.7 turnovers a game and he only shoots 43.7% from the field.

Just for fun.. I looked at last year an Craft was voted 2nd team by the coaches and 1st team by the media.

In comparison the coaches voted RDM 3rd team and the media actually voted Aaron White and left Marble off all together.

Granted Ohio St won the conference tourney and finished 2nd last year, but let's not forget they were ranked 3rd in the country earlier this year.

Marble's stats are better this year than last and this is supposed to be a yearly award but I can almost guarantee Craft will get the benefit of the doubt of his reputation. It's unfortunate but I won't be shocked.

He's also second in the league in scoring on the year, and he's averaging 18.7 ppg in conference play. I also think he might get a nod because of his defense. I could be wrong, but I think he's a pretty safe bet to make first team.

I'm not saying he won't make it. He might. I just don't think he's a lock. There are some other very good players in the pool you have listed. I think you're right about his defense helping him. However, I think Indiana's record could hurt him...currently 4-6 in the conference.
