Why no Winkie against Indiana?

Does anyone else find it odd that Winkie didn't play late in the game agasint Indiana? We had that drive that started with around 7 min left and a 3td lead in which DeAndre and Canzeri got carries, and we were clearly just handing the ball off down the field but Winkie never saw a snap.

That would seem like a good time to get him some experience, especially given the fact he's the number two right now. He's just seen very little time this year as in games previous Derby got the majority of the mop up snaps.

I've got to think that if he was the real number two he would of gotten some snaps there.

Backup John Weinke took one snap and then gave one final kneel down in his two plays.

I'm aware he came in for one play with 50 seconds left. My question is why don't you get him some meaningful time up 3 scores with 7 min left, especially considering Derby got most of the mop up duty previously and he's now changed positions.

Agreed that Weinke should have gotten in to hand the ball off. The coaching staff just doesn't bring the backup QB in unless necessary. JVB barely saw the field in 2009 or 2010, only Stanzi injuries forced it.

JVB has 9 starts.

it is wise to get the other backups experience while mixed in with the first team, because that is the most likely scenario that would happen. unless you think everyone will get hurt at once.

It was at this point in the game that I got so ****** I left. Perfect opportunity to get the backup some meaningful snaps and coach whiffs. Rather than sit and scream and cuss at the situation I got up and went to a gun show.

Wow. I am not surprised that you are the kind of guy who then goes to a gun show, to make up for other shortcomings.

I thought you could get an extra year medical harship waiver redshirt if you played in 30% of the games or less?

The only game that wasn't close JVB could have played in last year was MSU and I think he was injured. I'm not sure why they didn't give Weinke a few snaps and throws in the 4th QTR.
