Why no more expansion talk

Things have been very quiet on expansion witch makes me wonder if it is because they are working quietly on something or they have completely given up on it. Things have been very quiet on this front for a while witch makes me wonder if there are some big things going on behind closed doors?

We just added Nebraska. Let's let that soak in before we start on the expansion kick again. I'm sure it'll come up again soon at a national level, but it'll be a while.

You may be overthinking things a bit Keokuk. We have twelve. That's it for now.
Further expansion may happen, but I doubt they're behind closed doors frantically planning the next aquisition.

When Oklahoma and Texas A&M decide that they have had enough of being Texas's b*tch. More importantly, willing to do something about it.

There aren't many other options besides working on something or not.

I was thinking that they were supposed to have a study done in 18 to 24 months wheren't they? I was wondering what ever happended to that study? has everything been put on hold or is the Big Ten talking to possible candidates? its just strange to me how all we heard for months was how the college football world was going to be commpletely transformed and really not a whole lot really changes other than a couple of schools switched conferences.

The super conference talk was perpetuated by the media and fan sites such a this one up drum up traffic/listeners/viewers. It was the biggest waste of time having to listen to the same crap every day.I'm embarrassed for those who got reeled in to it all.

The super conference talk was only an attempt to get Notre Dame to join the B10. B10 is set at 12 for quite a while now.

Until the Big Ten is confident that ND is ready to join a conference, there won't be anymore expansion talk. You can't have a profitable expansion to 16 without ND - teams would lose money on further expansion unless ND is involved.

The Pac-10/12 accelerated that timetable with their expansion. Expansion is done for the Big Ten, unless Notre Dame decided they wanted to join.

There are a lot of people speaking in absolutes in this thread that know little more than the OP. I have no idea if there will be another expansion in two years, or if the B1G will always be the way it is now. What I do know, is that I don't know. My GUESS is that there will be more changes in the conference landscape in the next 5 to 10 years. That may or may not involve the B1G, but I would be surprised if the BCS conferencse are set in stone for any extenced period of time.

If we are only going to go by inside knowledge, there is no point to this thread because none of us are Jim Delaney or the COP/C.

Once you got Nebraska, well, what else is there??????

(It's a joke, laugh a little :D)

I think 12 is just about as big as you want to get for a conference. if it expands to 16, the cross division rivals would hardly ever play.

I agree, and when we go to a 9 games schedule, I am still holding out hope that we will get to play Wisconsin every year. If we expand to 16, it could potentially kill some good rivalries.

There is no problem with talking about it. I love to talk about it. The problem is with people acting as though the OP is an idiot for even bringing it up, as it they are Delaney themselves. He had a legitimate question, and a few posters acted as though the thought of more expansion was completely preposterous.
