Why Just Why?

Can we not play a backup QB, especially in a game like this? There was no coming back. KF does know that he cannot redshirt Rudock again, right? How do you develop young QB's if you don't give them any game experience? This is a big time fault of Ferentz that he has struggled with particular at the QB spot.

I really want to hear Kirk's answer to this one. If JVB is your starter for the rest of the year there was no point in keeping him and risking him getting injured. The fourth quarter was the perfect opportunity to let Ruddock get a few game-time snaps.

Its inexcusable for a 'developmental' program like Iowa. Its also a disservice to the team and to indivduals like JVB - subjecting him to the mounting criticism instead of making a change to show the fans that all the QB's are equally bad... that way the fans wont be so hard on a yong man - JVB

He hopes to avoid controversy. If Rudock played well, the groans from the fans would be even louder. He hopes he can squash it.

If Rudock or Sokol plays well then he starts and helps Iowa win games. That is just the way the cookie crumbles. JVB is a good kid, he has already graduated and is working on a graduate degree, role the effing dice for goodness sakes? Have we had a backup enter a game this year?

If Rudock is so far behind JVB that he is incapable of spelling him in a disaster like tonight, I don't think his scholarship should be renewed. Sokol and Beathard can fight it out in the Spring, and the kid from TX comes in next year.

Rhoads made a QB switch at half today in a game they were still in. It was unbelievable we did not see a switch tonight.

I have seen coaches make switches at QB all the time. We have the only one that absolutely will not outside of injury or graduation!

KF is 'saving' our good QB starts. He KNOWS our QBs get WORSE over their careers with more PT. If we start giving Rudock some PT now, it will only accelerate how bad he will get. Then, hopefully we can get a few good starts out of him as a Soph, before he starts getting bad.

Based off the fact that our back up isn't ready to play down 31. It's hard to see us being good for a while.

At best we're going to develop a good defense again (I could see that) and win a bunch of close games because we're lucky, ala 2009.
