Because last years class was very good, and to maintain a good team you need solid classes year in and year out.
Now, with the game yesterday I would guess that McNutt and Sash depart early. (Why? because they can and not sure where the gelling issues are on this team, but maybe they feel it's time to go) I'm fine with that, but we need to reload. Does the game hurt recruiting. I think it does from the "fight in the lockerroom" to "nobody had the will to win" aspect but not because Iowa lost. It does hurt, and I think the coaches need to show some fire, or something along those lines.
The likes of Gordon (locker room) and Kuoandjio aren't coming to Iowa because of what they have seen, but hopefully the guys that are committed are solid, and the ones that have high interest in Iowa still do.
This class is important because there is a large number of players to replace. Iowa needs to be positive for this class.
