Why is Shon Greene such a fumbler?

I don't get it. He handled the ball what 300 times last year and the only time I remember him putting it on the turf was when he was virtually knocked unconscious by a defender. That offside penalty saved what would have been his 4th fumble in about 100 carries this year.

If he doesn't start demonstrating some ball security he's going to be hard pressed to be a starter in the NFL.

He was a fumbled early in his Iowa career in practice

I was just about to say this, and what do the two instances have in common? Being comfortable and confident in what he is doing. I'd say combining that with his comments earlier in the year that he wished he had stayed at Iowa one more year because the NFL was 'much harder' (paraphrase) I'd say that his comfort level in his first year in the NFL is not as high as it could be, and that is not surprising (nothing against him, just that the NFL is a big step up.)

Shonn is averaging 5.0 yds per carry

Steve Slaton of Houston is averaging 3.3 yds per carry & has 7 fumbles in 131 carries

Darren McFadden of Oakland is averaging 3.5 yds per carry & has 5 fumbles in 99 carries

Tim Hightower of Arizona is averaging 4.2 yds per carry & has 5 fumbles in 137 carries

Ahmard Hall of Tennessee has 1 carry and 2 fumbles!!

Feel better yet?

Shonn Greene is supposed to be the franchise player and we talkin bout practice? Listen, we talkin bout practice, not a game, not a game, not a game, we talking bout practice, man. I mean, how silly is that?

I know one of the knocks on him in the draft was receiving. Are his hands small? Either way, he is going to be a feature back for many years. I DVR'd the game last night just to fast forward and watch his carries.

I blame Ken O'Keefe.

His hands are small. I remember one NFL talent scout, or something like that, making a comment about how his hands were like stubs, or something like that.

If he doesn't start valuing the football the only thing he's gonna feature is a case of bleacher butt from riding the pine.
