Why is Indiana so threatening?

Weather is supposed to be sunny and topping out at 53 degrees.

Thus, their QB play should be a factor.

I don't care how the Hawks do it, squeak one, whoopin, whatever, just get er done and move on to Hate Week against MN. Thats the one I want to see.

What is it about Indiana that makes us all worried (self included)? A few weeks back, Narinsky and Tate called out this one as a tough game on their podcast. Vegas obviously sees something. All of the Hawkeye site moderators are in this group.

Their QB has some NFL quality traits, for sure. Their RB is apparently good. But is the rest just recent history with Iowa struggling? Is it that a big arm like their QB gives Iowa trouble, even with Iowa's great D. I thought running QBs give Iowa trouble?

Their D is really bad, right? Look at their wins (margin and opponent) and their losses (margin and opponent) and the fear seems irrational. But alas, we all seem to feel the same way. No doubt that each week will give some pause (e.g., but Purdue did beat Nebraska; Minny almost beat UM; etc.), but this seems to have been called a while ago with universal agreement.

Is the thought that Iowa has to keep up with this offense and it might stumble doing so?

I haven't read through the thread yet so this might be redundant. Early on I didn't see this game as a problem. I do now for two reasons.

1. They appear to have a very good offense. A good offense always has a slight edge over a good defense simply because they know what they're going to do while the defense is speculating and reacting. Eventually the good offense will prevail. So... I expect them to score some points.

2. Our ability to score points is somewhat hindered because we're playing with half a quarterback. CJ is more than capable of giving us 3 or 4 big plays with his arm but the 3 or 4 big plays he was giving us with his feet could easily be the difference. He's been able to sustain several drives that lead to scores with his feet . The absence of his ability to run had a great deal to do with our lackluster second half offensive performance against Maryland. Fortunately, the turtles did not have a good offense.

[cut-n-paste f/couple weeks ago] Hawks are gonna have the ball for 40 minutes. Their biggest "threat" is gonna be trying to not tear off multiple 40+ yard rushes and scoring too quickly.
Hawks 37 - Hoozhers 14.

Hawks strategy will be, Indy can't score if they don't have the ball. Look for 50+ rushes (for 250+)
Of course, Indy will expect this. Won't matter. Keep in mind, with the return of Myers, the OL was reshuffled, again. Now that he has the rust worked off, the OL will regain it's sync. Plewa / Cox will help tenderize.

This nearly makes CJ injury a non-factor. It will be further minimized with swings to Mitchell and quickies to Vandy.

The only hope for Indy is if Iowa beats itself. Protect the ball and grind 'em down.

As just reported by ESPN writer Austin Ward

Coming off the bye week, Indiana tailback Jordan Howard should be ready to get back on track after dealing with an ankle injury for much of October. "He came back and practiced immediately last week [after 11 carries against Michigan State] and looked good in our first two days of preparation this week," Hoosiers coach Kevin Wilson said. "He's getting back up to speed and he's looking close to me."
