Why do we drop so many balls?

Our defense will almost certainly take a step, or two, back next year. What happens if our offense doesn't take 3 steps forward (as well as punting game)....

3-4 wins, maybe.

I was going to say the bright side is our offense can’t get any worse.

When the QB throws nothing but rocket balls from three yards away you get a tip drill
Sorry, but you're very wrong.
A hard thrown ball is easier to catch when you use proper technique than the floater that's a half-step behind you and you have to twist and adjust.
Hit 'em in the hands and should be a catch 90%+ of the time.

I remember in the pre-season an HN staff writer had an article about the WR group and the coach telling them that everybody was saying they were the weakest unit on the field

And the receivers smiled and nodded with the attitude that they were going to surprise some people.

Yep. I’m surprised. Last year’s group didn’t drop 3-4 balls a game
3-4 is a mighty optimistic figure. In fact, I think this would be no more than a two loss team if we decreased dropped passes by 50%.

Safe to say we won't be blaming Wiegers next year. If he's on the roster, I'd be totally surprised.

Because we don't have a talented receiver on our team, and a QB that throws every single ball 90 mph no matter how close the receiver is. Except for the dying quail long ball that Marsette dropped, the one ball Stanley should have actually thrown farther and on a line because he was throwing into the wind, but for some reason decided to throw it straight up in the air into the wind.

On a lark, I looked at some of the Iowa/OSU game in 2009....the one we lost in OT.
We dropped something like six passes that day with Stross dropping three, including two sure TDs.
This isn't a new phenomena.

Mebe WRs hands are being beaten up and, therefore, have not feeling in them from all the blocking they are required to do. This coaching staff (and fan base) prides itself on its making of excuses.:p
