Lewis out of Pittsburgh ...

Big East marketplace ...

Nearly 1800 yds last year ...

====================

Keenum out of Houston ..

go look at his numbers from last year ...

kid might go for 6000 yds this season ...

Lewis to me is the front runner ... last 3 winners are Sophs and this kid is special and bet DW and company let this kid go for 2000 yds

Right now, Kenum. If Pryor plays like he did in the Rose Bowl, for a season, he will win it hands down

The last three winners being sophomores only means that voters are now willing to vote for a sophomore to win it now. It doesn't mean there's something in the water and another sophomore will win it.

Yes, Lewis has he Big East marketplace. That gives him a good shot at winning that region. However, I think the biggest obstacle he will face is the fact that he plays in Big East. I think he's arguably the best player in the country, but I doubt that voters in the South or West are going to vote for him, simply because of that. Keenum may have a better shot than Lewis.

Pryor is probably going to be the frontrunner, as the hype machine is churning harder than ever. Ingram has little shot to repeat, IMO. It just really seems like he was a reluctant winner last year, nobody was really SOLD on him, he was just the best choice in a weak year (even though I didn't think he should have won it over Gerhart). He may not even be the best back on his own team.

Though personally, if I were the deciding vote, my frontrunner would be Jacquizz Rodgers out of Oregon State. That guy is just electric!

In order for that to happen Tressel will have to step out of character and leave the playbook open for the entire season. If he does then I would agree. In the Rose Bowl Pryor finally lived up to all of the hype surrounding him since his senior year of HS, and was very impressive.

I just don't see Keenum getting a fair shake. There would have to be no standout players on the top teams in order for that to happen as the Heisman is no longer the best player in CFB, it is the standout player on one of the best teams.

I think a lot of that performance had to do with the type of defense (read: Big 12-like) that they were going up against, and that Oregon no doubt prepared for OSU to run the ball.

Keenum will deserve it based on numbers, but won't get it because he plays for Houston.

I think the voters will feel so sorry for USC not getting to play in a bowl game that they will give it to Barkley.

That's the same Keenum who threw six INTs against Air Force. Six.

My favorite: Kellen Moore of Boise St. If Boise St. goes undefeated and makes the BCS national title game, I guessing Moore will likely be the star.

As a dark horse candidate, I'll throw in Jake Locker. The Pac-10 is down this year, IMO, and I actually think Washington could have a decent season. Locker already has the hype to support him as well.

forgot about Locker ....

we need to see who Holtz and Corso like so we can start the elimination game

Locker would be my dark horse as well.........if they(Washington) can get to 8-4 or better he can over take Moore and the west coast vote.

I think at the end of the year, Luck is going to be the guy out of the west coast.

So what? All I'm saying is that the kid can sling the rock.

Has a defensive end ever won the Heisman?

I don't think Clayborn is a front runner in the national media's eyes, but he is in mine.

Only if you count Charles Woodson. But he got it more for his 3-way play and especially his punt return against OSU than for his play at CB (though he was/is a very special player at CB).

Locker will get the hype, but UW's trench play has been terrible for ~4-5 years now, and although their OL should be improved, I think they still won't be good enough for him to carry them to more than 6-8 wins. The skill players on O are good, b/c they were recruited w/ the chance to play w/ Purple Jesus, er, The Mauve Messiah, er, Jake Locker. (If you lived here and heard the expectations UW fans put on Locker, you'd understand.)

Right now I have to go w/ Pryor. Everyone has known his name for years, and he blew up in the Rose Bowl. I hope he doesn't win it, and love Dion Lewis' game, but I really think it's Pryor's to lose. Andrew Luck is also a great call, as is The Quizz.
