Yeah, I know, we may not play at all, may not start until Oct, don't know who leaves and who comes in yet, but, give your prediction of the B1G West

It will be Iowa. Edit - I should add - It is way too soon to be objective.

So far the pattern seems to be

Wisconsin,
then somebody else,
wisconsin
Wisconsin
Somebody else
Wisconsin

So this year I am going with Purdue

Then next year Wisconsin again

I would not be surprised if Iowa or Wisconsin won the West. We do have them at home. They also lost one of the best RB’s I have watched. MN has a lot of rebuilding to do, but they are moving up. I just cannot believe NW, Purdue, Illinois, will make a big jump. I plan to laugh at Nebraska again next year.

Awfully tough cross conference schedule. OSU and PSU on the road. Yikes.

1. Iowa
2. Wiacy
3. Mimmy
4. Nebby
5. Purdont
6. Indy

This is a year we surprise. We will be rated low. Always a bonus for the team. Us against the world. But we are not rebuilding, we are reloading. I do not know the last time I could say that.

Iowa in the B1G championship game

It will be known as the Year of the Hawk! Football, Basketball, Wrestling all win the BIG, and Women's BB will be right there again! Not to mention Baseball! Can't wait.

Wisconsin

Until someone can crack the code. Big o-line, a back that will run for about 1800 yards, great play from the outside linebackers...... same ole recipe. Croan will be nauseating good enough to make it all work.

The West is getting much more difficult to win. Wisconsin isn't outclassing the division on the field anymore but is still the best program because of coaching. I think it will come down to the final week again like last season but I could see more teams being involved in the race late.

It's intriguing this year. In reading a few write ups there were a few things that stood out to me about the coming year.

Wisconsin - They have positions to fill on the offensive line (usually reloads), and you lost a generation type of running back in Taylor. I'm going to say it, you may be able to commit people to the line of scrimmage and force Coan to beat you. Losing Cephus was huge for them too. Wisconsin is beatable.

Minny - I didn't realize they have their entire o-line back. With an accurate QB, that's not good. Playing them early, and on a Friday at Minnesota...I expect it will be a crazy atmosphere. Good thing...KF owns Minnesota and PT Barnum, their head coach. This may be a law of averages year though.

Nebraska - B10 Network Hype aside, they will have weapons on offense. The problem...they lost a ton on their defensive line and they weren't great there last year. Hard to believe they can stop people...especially the run. History tells you if you can't stop the run in the B10...you lose...alot.

Iowa - Offensive line is going to be very, very good...especially adding a all B10 player from Indiana via the transfer route. There are a ton of very good young players vying for time at the guard positions...and an all conference center. This sets up everything for Iowa. The WR groups may be as good as we have ever had...and LaPorta could be a breakout star at TE. It all comes down to Spencer Petras. I'm told he's accurate...and bright. Both bode well for success. Phil Parker has shown the ability to put together a great D every year. The pieces are there again.

If Iowa can get a big win at Minny early and gain some confidence by beating Iowa State too...maybe we surprise OSU or Penn State in the two game nightmare stretch early in the B10 season.

Vegas says MN and WI, and I suspect this time the folks whose lives depend on it are correct. Iowa's D-line will be OK, but a step or so down from previous years. Probably not good enough to get over the hump, especially with a 1st year QB going into multiple big-time hostile stadiums. I expect another good but not great year from the Hawks. I expect all the remaining teams in the West to be improved from last year.

Let's face it, Wisconsin has the best Athletic Director. The other guy works for him.

I agree with this but Cryst and Leonard are very good at what they do. They very good at identifying their opponents weaknesses and attacking them and identifying strengths and limiting them. They won the West because they did something to Minnesota that only Iowa also had success with and that's taking away the intermediate slant routes that Minnesota lived on all year.

They also stick to what they're good at and don't try to do what they're not good at. They never put Coan in bad situation. Easy, quick throws.

That is their advantage over Iowa. Iowa was too stubborn trying to be a running team. They should have been a pass first team this season. Even Wisconsin struggled to defend them.
