Who will be starting running back

KM unless he gets hurt in practice between now and day 1. I don't see that changing otherwise. Now how they dibby up the reps behind him is up in the air. I could see TJW playing more and Patterson wishing he'd have transferred out. I could see it the other way around and Patterson getting more reps too. It's hard to say. Maybe Brevin Doll sneaks in there to get some. Kid is the fastest player on the team pretty much.

Situationally who gets the goalline/short yardage reps? Williams is the biggest RB we have at 230ish. They have a body type for every situation just about. So it'll be interesting as all get out how Lester distributes the reps

Right before he left, Ladell Betts had great things to say about Moulton being a star this year.

I look forward to a productive group. Everyone on the offensive side is gonna have a big year.

This is at least the 2nd year of preseason hype about Moulton, and he hasn't been that impressive when the lights come on. I'm ridin' Patterson if I had to choose an 'every down' RB.

Moulton averaged 5.6 yards per carry last year. That is really good.

Patterson averaged 4.9, also good.

I think I'll trust Betts' word over yours.
Both of those are crazy good YPC avgs. Anything 4.4 or above is great. Limited touches or not that's getting it done and I look forward to how they do. I think the running game should be above avg again. I don't see why not.

I truly think both Patterson and Moulton could have big years if our O-line is as advertised and we can have a semblance of a passing game, which means protecting Gronowski. But teams were beyond brazen stacking the box last year daring Iowa to throw. We get some big passing plays or show we can consistently throw, I can see both having very good seasons.

Idk, I saw flashes during Kaleb Johnson's freshman year he had the potential to be a great running back aa long as he stayed healthy. Same with Akrum Wadley. I have not seen those same flashes of potential greatness in the current group of RBs. Maybe I just missed it last year.

The funny thing is Tim Lester did not start Kaleb Johnson in game 1 last year. Maybe Johnson was suspended in the first half of the first game, I dont remember. But I thought not starting Johnson in game 1 was a coaches decision, I could be wrong.

I guess my point is whoever starts in game 1 can be pretty meaningless sometimes.

I actually did see flashes of something from Moulton as a freshman. Not the power of KJ, but good burst, and cuts, moving forward without dancing in the backfield. I really liked what I saw. I wasn't as impressed early with Jazz. I thought he just ran as hard as he could straight forward , but think he has really improved with the nuances of the position and am happy with both as RBs.
