Who was in Madison?

I was, soooo glad I went. I was also there in 09 when we won. There was a convoy of Hawk cars driving up, it was really cool and the way back people honked at me and pumped their fists as we past each other. It was a cool crisp day, but the wind was just awful. My lips are now chapped and I have a wind burned face. I felt like we dominated the 1st half and should have been up like 21-3 or 24-3. I still can't figure out why we looked so bad on offense the second half. I think the wind affected CJ with deep passing. I tip my hat to the Iowa D, they never gave up and kept the Connies out of the end zone. I will admit, the refs made some really bad calls and the Badger fans were livid, I just laughed:) The entire game was close so it was nerve racking!! You could feel the tension with the entire crowd. Other than that, we're 5-0 now!

Always fun. Spent the night before in Dodgeville. Enjoyed incredibly good BBQ @ "Bob's Bitchn BBQ" in Dodgeville. Highly recommended.

Convoy of Iowa folks heading east on 151 during the drive in today. Took the bus in from the western transit station....$1...sweet.

Hit downtown around 8:20....went immediately to Lucky's. Bloody Mary's were a bit pricey but strong enough to put hair on your chest.

Crashed a friend's house party soon after...all within two blocks of the stadium.

Sat in the middle of Bucky (section X, row 41, four seats), but had Hawks fans immediately behind and in front of us. Bucky liked to constantly yell, "And that's a Badger first down." (sort of like Indiana and Purdue do). Bucky was generally quiet today, down on Stave for sure.

Lost my voice by the end of the 3rd quarter. Bucky was all upset about the officiating but said very little when the calls went against Iowa. Jump Around is over rated.

Good fun place. Friendly folks. Will definitely go back.

Refs were horrible, but the horrible calls went both ways. Even I had to admit some calls against the vadgers were weak.

Any trouble with the locals?

Not so much on my end. Some female Wisky fan kept screaming in the 1st half, and she would stand up every time. She made a fool of herself because she was so obnoxious. You could tell that everyone was tired of her. After the game I was standing on the outside south side of Camp Randell Hawkeye. A 3 story bldg. across the street had balconies with people on the top 2 levels on them. Some Iowa fans on the second level saw and yelled "Go Hawks" down at us, so we yelled back. On the 3rd floor some female wisky fan saw us & began flipping us off. Some Iowa male fans were walking towards me and were all over the sidewalk, and their eyelids were half closed. You could just see it in their facial expressions. They are going to be hungover tomorrow!

Wayyyyy beyond horrible. Bucky had a pass interference call which was bogus, and, and Iowa player clearly went helmet to helmet which wasn't called.

Let's hear about your day!
Went up with my step-son and his best friend both 11 yrs. old. Had parking pass. Badger fans friendly as could be offered food and drink played catch with the boys AWESOME fans. Camp Randall is cool old stadium vibe like Kinnick. No sound system needed, very loud. Badger fans very dismissive of Iowa before game, like an older brother mentality. Sat in very old die-hard Badger section. Were nice until several bad calls in first half made some start to lose it. Student section was late arriving but LARGE! Some of the band moved around upper sections playing fight song, very cool! Band was very good. Iowa DOMINATED first half left points on the field. Bucky Fans VERY upset about lack of running game they did not think much of Stave. Afraid at half that refs would even up calls in 2nd half. They did. Could have heard Kirk chew his gum after Stave fumble on the one. Deathly silent but for a few Hawk fans (us included) screaming in disbelief. Fans were going nuts at the clock- mismanagement with two minutes to go. Took several seconds after final play for Bucky fans to actually realize they had lost, looks of confusion and disbelief, PRICELESS! Ride home listened to local Badger post game show. Announcers complete D-bags. Factual mistakes, said Iowa was 5-1 until a caller corrected him. Gave no credit to Iowa defense. Said "Iowa still had to play Michigan St. (no we don't) had no chance to win the division". Complained our win against "a bad Pitt team our only accomplishment". Not one host or caller gave any credit to one of the toughest defensive performances by BOTH teams I've seen in a long time! Cryst post game did NOT go well with local media. GREAT DAY IN MADISON!

Madison is always a fun road game, we arrived on Friday night, and enjoyed great pizza at Paisan's.. Then went back to RV and watched Cubs whip the Brewers, and smoked cigars, and had some adult beverages..

On game day always fun atmosphere in Madison, even in the 80's when they were bad still a nice atmosphere, we were in the Iowa section at top of lower bowl on the field house end.. Just a hard hitting tough game on both sides. The wind was a factor, but the bigger factor was the UW defense best unit we will face this season.

As always nice trip, and even better when Hawks win!!!

Go Hawks!!

It seemed like the refs would make a weak call against one team, and then feel the need to make up for it on the next drive. A couple of the pass interference calls against Iowa were very questionable. But there was also one on Wisconsin that even I had to admit didn't look like PI.

The fans weren't terrible but I did get a couple f*** the Hawks and what not, but I'm targeted like that being in my early 20s. Watched the game in an Iowa section next to a Wisconsin fan and his Iowa buddy. The wisco fan had a bad time to put it mildly. Glad we weren't ranked coming in because I knew their fans would underestimate us. The game was obviously great. After the game their fans were in loser denial. Basically everyone I talked to said both teams were bad. No credit to Iowa. Wisconsin lost the game. Iowa didn't win it according the them. Great college campus though, had a blast!

First time to Madison. Liked the campus and State Street is pretty cool. I thought jump around was great and worth the hype. We had one bad fan behind us. We told him to shut up in the 4th quarter and all the Wisconsin fans thanked us. The only surprising and mildly disappointing thing was the lack of tailgating. Most people have house parties or go to the bars before the game.

We went to the bars before the game around 8am. They filled up closer to game time. Had the band drumline come through and do a thing and then some old dudes in bagpipes rolled through as well. It was alright.

Game itself we didn't run into a single bad fan. We were with 2 badger fans though. After the game most people said it was a really boring game and both teams suck. Most fans really seem fed up with stave. Iowa picked off the ball while I was waiting in line for the Porta potties and then scored the touchdown while I was peeing. So I basically missed the biggest highlights.

Madison is a fun city. Would definitely go back

That's what I don't like about Madison. Since the stadium is downtown, there are no lots to t-gate in. The tailgaiting is all bars on like on Emry St. It's like going to a Cubs baseball game. Worse is all the bars play music as loud as they can on the speakers and you have to scream at the people you are chatting with, plus you spend a ton of money on food and beer.

It was my first trip to Madison and it was a blast! We will be going back multiple times in the future! The convoy up 151 Friday afternoon/evening was really cool. We hit the farmers market early Saturday then walked down to the Hawkeye Huddle/Badger Bash. Got some free refreshments while enjoying the Iowa cheerleaders performing and then watched the Wisconsin band play. That was pretty neat. It was cool how both teams had pre game tailgate parties together. Both fan bases were getting along great.
I sat in row 41 of section Q. I had three Iowa fans in front of me and there were two more in front of them. The Wisconsin fans around me were very friendly. Both fan bases cheered hard for their team and were ok with the other fan base cheering for their team.
Wisconsin fans were getting ****** about the bad calls. We got four favorable calls. They got two. The picked up roughing the punter I don't think was a big deal because there was only 15 seconds left in the half and they'd have still had a long ways to go to score. It was fun to join in on jump-around. The fifth quarter was cool and went on for quite awhile. Herky joined in with them right away and they even invited the Iowa cheerleaders to join in. It was a lot of fun to watch. The stadium is very old put still quite nice. It is a trip that every Iowa fan should make sometime. I will say this though, even though Camp Randall is bigger and better enclosed than Kinnick, it was not any louder. Game time and team performance I'm sure played a factor. There were many more times that Kinnick was louder during the Pitt game than any point Saturday.
I've been to a number of college and NFL venues. This was my most enjoyable time at a game outside of Kinnick! I've been to: Notre Dame vs Stanford, Louisville vs Rutgers, ISU vs Iowa, Tenn vs UCLA, Tenn vs Kentucky, Orange Bowl 2010 vs G Tech, Chiefs vs Raiders, and Colts vs Jags. BTW the nicest stadium was easily the Colts while worst was ISU or Tenn.

helmet to helmet happens every play. You're thinking of high hit on a defenseless player. Neither of those were the case on that play. The collision took place about 18 inches off the ground.

I think Wisconsin should have been called for PI in the endzone on Iowa's drive in the endzone.

I reside in Madison and I wasn't going to miss this one. I haven't missed a badger iowa game since Shonn Greene's big day at Kinnick. Sat in the endzone that's not the student section and had a great view. Bathrooms were close which was a plus. I'll echo what others have said about the friendliness of the Badger fans. Went to some of the bars in my hawkeye garb and had many old men congratulate me on the W. My memory begins to fade around 5 and im still feeling that today but what a day it was.

Go Hawks!

I did go. Was stuff up in the top of the southeast corner of the south end zone. I was surprised that it didn't seem all that loud in there this year. I had gone to the game in Ames and I believe that game was louder than at Wisconsin. About half of their student section didn't arrive until maybe the 3rd quarter. Maybe they were studying???? It was a hard hitting defensive game. The Wisky fans really reacted with the helmet to helmet no call. I couldn't tell on the replay whether the Wisky receiver lowered his head just before the Iowa defender (I think it was Lomax) hit him or not. Lots of penalties on both sides for sure. Hopefully Beathard did learn to not throw over the middle late, especially when getting tackled. How about that play where Meier lined up at nose tackle and blew up that play at the goal line where Stave fumbled the hand off and Iowa recovered. Some of the Wisky fans on the Scout board are trying to make the loss not seem so bad. Some state Stave tripped over his own shoe laces. To that I say watch the slow mo replay. Meier blew that sucker up and made the guard step back and Stave tripped because of that and then Meier had the running back wrapped up also so that play was going nowhere. Thank God they fumbled the exchange though.

I'm sure most of us where wanting Iowa to go for the field goal to tie at 3 - 3 instead of the new Kirk going for it again. Of course we didn't get the TD. I was thinking they were going to try to draw them off sides or they had a play they were confident would get it.

Overall the Wisky fans we encountered were okay. They didn't say much. Only one youngster on the walk back to the car was up in a apartment balcony partying had derogatory stuff to say. We just said "10-6".

The fan base for either Nebraska or Wisky will be going bezerk next week when they lose. Nebraska fans probably already are. We are basically already two games up on Wisky since I believe head to head is the primary tie breaker for the title game. Not sure who I want to win that one. If Nebraska loses maybe they lose steam and our visit there will be very subdued with some empty seats.

Hoping Michigan takes care of business this weekend against Northwestern. Rudock's stats didn't look great against a bad Maryland team, but they won and their defense stepped up.

Is there anyone in the Big Ten Iowa might not be able to stay with the way they are all playing now? It's a wide open field.

Wisconsin crowd was extremely disinterested. I could see them turning in to a basketball school in a hurry if things don't turn around.
