Who to root for and why? Jon?

Who Hawk fans should pull for in this weekend's games is not as straightforward as you might think. There is the short term ratings gain to be balanced against the long term benefits (NC vs, Bowl situation complicates things too). Who do we want to win in these big match-ups and WHY? Certainly the schedules and potential future losses for these teams matters as well.

#1 Alabama vs. #7 Florida
#5 Oregon vs. #9 Stanford
#8 Oklahoma vs. #21 Texas
#11 Wisconsin vs. #24 Mich State

Florida
Oregon or Stanford, cheer for who has the hardest remaining schedule.
Texas, although I think both Texas and Oklahoma will have two losses.

For the last one who cares, we play them both. Maybe Wisky.

Should add OSU, we need them #1 coming to Kinnick for the long shot NC to work.

Bama v Florida doesn't matter. Neither will fall far if they lose. Same with Oregon v Stanford. Root for Oklahoma, since Texas would skyrocket by beating them, likely to keep iowa pushed down low. And Sparty vs Wisky doesnt matter overly much, other than if Wisky wins, us beating them looks that much better as they break into Top 10. Sparty would climb to probably top 15, dropping Wisky down to about 20, making two ok ranked instead of one more top ten team beign from the big ten

Florida over Bama. Florida's offense will sputter at some point this year and they'll drop at least 1. The earlier Bama loses, the better, because then it opens up the whole field.

Stanford over Orgeon. Similar to Florida, Stanford will lose at least once or twice throughout the rest of the season.

Texas over Oklahoma. Both teams are pretenders this year, and I see them each losing at least 2 this year. It's just a good thing to have them start falling apart early.

Michigan State over Wisconsin. We play them both, and if MSU pulls the upset they'll both be ranked when we play them in Kinnick.

I think we should root for Florida, Stanford, Texas, and Wisconsin. The one I think is most important is for Texas to beat Oklahoma, mostly because we need Oklahoma to lose a game. We want Texas to lose another game later on, but we REALLY REALLY REALLY want Texas to beat Nebraska when they play on October 16. If Texas beats Oklahoma this week, then I think that helps give them momentum so they can beat Nebraska the following week.

Florida and Stanford winning I think would be good because they are probably each gonna lose a game later on. Alabama is pretty good, and the sooner they lose the better... hopefully they lose two games this year.

I think Wisconsin coming into Kinnick with their only loss coming against Ohio State would be ideal, however, not a big deal for us if MSU beats them. Either way, we play both and we will beat both. I also agree that we want Ohio State to come to Kinnick undefeated and ranked #1.
