Who pays for all of this?

Is Iowa responsible for the extra travel expenses? I can't see Indiana having to pay. Or does the BIG foot the bill for both schools if it's played on a neutral court?

Why cant you see Indiana having to pay if Iowa has to make a return trip to Bloomington or to a neutral site game?

Absolutely Indiana is on the hook for Iowa's expenses on a return trip. Iowa showed up, as scheduled, ready to play. Indiana apparently doesn't know how to properly ensure that their building is safe to play a game (maybe they need to hire Purdue engineers?). Since they have a fiduciary responsibility to ensure their facilities are in the proper shape to host a game, and they failed, they should be required to foot the bill for Iowa to return for a makeup game.

1000% agree. But Indiana, at least so far, impresses me as unconcerned about anything except finding some way to get Iowa back into a dangerous Assembly Hall for their all-important home game. Expenses, safety, scheduling, even willingness for provisions for alternate sites seem to mean nothing to them.

Agreed. This the way it looks to me. I'm not sure how else to see it since they apparently refused to play the game tonight on the Pacers' home floor. Doesn't inspire much respect for Indiana's athletic department.

Indiana responsible for any and all costs associated with replaying this game. especially if it was true about iowa willing to stay and play at pacers and indiana declined.

Well this is a new low for our fan base. Now we are outraged over travel expenses? My God...who cares. Some of you act like it's you're ready to close your personal checking accounts to make sure you're not robbed of these precious travel expenses. In a lot of ways, Dakich was spot on in his assessment of Iowa fans.
I'm sure Barta and the U of I can handle it. You guys can unclench.

IU just announced that their make up game at disAssembly Hall will include $1 hot dogs to compensate Iowa for their extra travel expenses.

LOL. I don't see anybody "outraged" over travel expenses.. Somebody just asked a simple question.

It's not Indiana's fault that the game was cancelled. Stuff happens and safety was the main concern. Yes they "respectfully declined" the game tonight on a neutral court, so in that "cents" they are responsible. If the game were to be rescheduled @ Indiana I think they should pay. If, after 72 hrs, the BIG makes the decision to play on a nuetral court shouldn't they be responsible for travel expenses?

Lol the only person outraged here is you buddy. It's a simple and relevant question. The travel expenses of an entire basketball team aren't cheap. When you compare it to the amount of money the athletic dept. brings in I suppose you could say one game is relatively cheap, but it is a reasonable question to ask. Just because you don't like the question doesn't mean you should label Iowa fans as outraged. Specially when you are the only one overreacting :)

take a stab at what $ amount you think the expense totals to. how many people travelling, flight costs, food costs, room costs, travel costs to and from the airport/hotel. plus time taken away from activities that would normally be happening instead of retravelling.....i.e. prepping for next game, studies, recruiting, etc.

Approx $14,567

Sounds like you might work for the government if you are not concerned about expenses. As a taxpayer and supporter of the athletic department I am … IU should reimburse.
