So if you watched the super bowl, you watched the Pats, give up a td, just to get the ball back. Ok gutsy call, I like it. Then when time is at a premium, do you send 12 men out and give up the 5 yards, knowing it will eat a ton of time??
Rule change: Defensive flag under 2 min. time goes back on clock to when foul was committed AND you still give up the 5 yards.

I think that's a good idea. That penalty didn't really help the Pats and it definitely favored the Giants.
 
It was a great game between two slugger teams with terrific QBs. I'm sorry the Patriots lost, but they had their chances and didn't capitalize.
Both head coaches are their staffs are the best in the business. Both teams will contend again next season, guaranteed. In fact, a (another?) rematch between these teams in the SB would not surprise me.
What more could anyone want in a Super Bowl?
 
Good points. I don't know that the Giants intentionally put 12 guys on the field, but wow did it work out in their favor.

The letting them score thing was also smart but it was way too late. The gutsiest thing to do probably would have been to let them score once they got inside the 20, when there were still two minutes left in the game and the Pats had two timeouts. It's hard to justify when you have the lead, but did anyone really doubt they were going to at least get a field goal at that point? Would you rather have Tom Brady and 2:00 to try to score a touchdown or Tom Brady and 1:00 to try to get a field goal?

Lastly, has a punter ever won Super Bowl MVP? Because that guy was the key to the game.
 
Great coaching and an unbelievable game all-around. It wasn't the shootout that was expected but unlike the college NC, it delivered an awesome game.

Very well coached, was'nt it. Good game, and coached better then any I have seen. Time to shake hands and say good game, I dont think you could have asked more of anyone. Glad to see DW had a decent game. He lets all those big time coaches know, that when a small guy has enough will and want to, anything is possible. (Are you listening Canzeri??)
Which reminds me, I have seen some articles on a few guys we have that "want to" to be hawks. I thought it was outstanding to hear that when offered, Keppy's search ended. Gotta love that. Here's to a good spring, summer and fall.
 
Pats definitely made the right call. If they don't drop those passes, they probably win the game. Belichick made the call that gave his team the best chance of winning. I'm happy that it didn't work, but it was absolutely the right call, and it SHOULD have worked.
 
I'm not sure who coached this game better, but I'm very excited about the potential of getting a coach from each of these teams to Iowa City.
 
Pats should have let them score one play earlier. Giants RB should have stopped at 1 but wanted that TD badly. With all that, the Hail Mary was pretty darn close to being caught. Healthy Gronkowski may have made that catch.
 
I was surprised the Giants didn't just have Eli kneel once they were at the 5 or whatever. They could have run the clock down until about 20 seconds, and taken the lead with the FG. Obviously they still won the game, but I was surprised they risked fumbling the ball there.

TM, so do you risk it and let them walk in, or do you call a TO at 2:40 knowing you have the 2:00 and another TO? Granted you have to get a stop, it's risky but so is 1:00 trying to get a TD.
Stanzi, I side with you, that is what should have happened. But, you have to give credit to the 12 man foul. It was a thing of beauty. Almost like a big hit, it rung a bell or two, but on a different level.
 
ww lost this game for the pats on a easy catch. it keeps him out of the hof. he would have to win the next 2 to makeup for this

If I'm Belichick, and I've got Tom Brady on my side, I like my chances with a minute and a TO. If Welker and Hernandez don't make those drops, that move works exactly the way it should have.

If Welker didn't drop that ball on the earlier drive, then the Patriots are the ones who are trying to milk clock/not score, because the Giants only had one timeout. Man, I don't know how coaches sleep at night. You get the ball to your most dependable receiver in a spot that could basically seal the game, and he drops it.

Wow. Really? Come on, it was a good call, I will admit. But you have to admit he got one up'ed. He made a ballzy call (and good) but the 12 man was a call right back.
Close to two, yes, sign me up all day. 1 on the clock, gotta have a TD..... you just got out coached.
So if Stanzi was calling the game, you never would have had even a minute anyway. Got to admit, that game come down to coaching and calling. You see it then you execute. It works the same, player or coach. Sometimes it's like rolling the dice.

To get a field goal I agree; but driving 80 yards for a TD with an offense that doesnt throw passes further than 8 yards is a different story. Even if Hernandez makes that 9 yard catch on that drive the Pats still end up throwing a hail mary
 
the pats lost because welker dropped that easy pass on the drive before the ngg scored. he will be left out of the hof because of it.
 
Come on guys. The call was made before that. So what your saying is leave it up to the O? With less then 1 min left? Yes I will say it, if you get the squeeze put on, you have to call a TO with 2:40 left on the ticker. You are asking a guy, no a team, to drive it 80 yards with a min on the clock. Let it go, 12 men was a good call, and played very well.
 
penalty call on last drive is like msu players taking dives. rule needs to change, penalty is actually committed before ball is snapped, so clock adjustment.

a couple of bad drops by the pats on final two drives cost them.

TC said after the game he didn't discuss what to do if the gates were opened, so when he tried to stop on one, runner was processing the reprecussions/benefits on his own.

I would of opened the gate after they cracked the 20 as said earlier. It is what Green Bay did in SB XXXII that allowed Bronco's Terrell Davis to walk in.

it was a well played good game, Happy for the fans of the Giants.
