Who is going to San Diego?

This will be my wife and I first bowl trip. We’ve tossed around the idea for a few years and decided this was the year due to the amount of time off we had. Admittedly I learned a lesson in booking that you literally have to do it moments after the announcement. My first and second flight choices sold out, so now we have to connect in Phoenix and will get there a little after 7pm on the 26th, staying til the 29th.

Anyways I’ll be in downtown staying in the gaslamp area. Any late night drinking spots or early Friday spots before the game? After the game?

Go Hawks!

Walk/bike the beach on the other days. The path near seaworld is good. That's what I'd do...again.

Saturday will be our day for checking out a few things locally. Won’t be able to stay out too last Saturday night as well need to be up at about 4am for the airport.

If we are on time we should be out and about in the gas lamp area by 9-930pm I’d think the night before. My plan will be to stay out til bar closing time that night.

Practically the same deal for me. 1st bowl, no plan on going then mom purchased flight to Phoenix (where they live) so i could join my brother and step dad and drive to SD. I will look for the Hawkeye huddle if i don't miss it then hit the tailgate at the stadium pregame. At least that is my current plan...

I really haven’t been to a bowl game In years. I am in a rut wanting to watch on tv at home or in a bar. Things have changed in stadiums what with monitors and cell phones so you won’t miss a play wherever your seat is at. Went to Rosebowl in the 90’ and sat in end zone and couldn’t really see plays. Anyway the cost for three days for just a single made me just decide to stay home in front of tv. Enjoy yourself everybody. Go Hawks.

Go up and down the street in gas lamp district and you will have a blast. Also the harbor area has kick ass sea food and you can tour an aircraft carrier, though alcohol is not allowed on board. Have a great trip!

Man, I love Iowa fans. No one but Iowa and Wisconsin fans would think "Hey, I want to carry a 12 pack of Yellow Bellies onto the USS Midway" and then be upset when they found out it was against the rules.

Be careful in San Diego. I heard that back in November 2016 a young woman was attempting to exercise her First Amendment rights by protesting on I-5 and she was struck by a vehicle. The morons in the California courts threw out her lawsuit against various people. It is just awful when a state holds a person who got hit by a car on the interstate liable for their own actions. https://www.thecollegefix.com/court...by-vehicle-during-anti-trump-freeway-protest/

This is a bizarre post.

You're recommending that OP and others "take extra caution" in San Diego because a court dismissed a freak-accident case in 2016 on one occasion?

The story is unfortunate, but not sure what you're getting at. How does a court dismissing a lawsuit make a state/location more dangerous than anywhere else?

Jesus fucking christ, man.

Have you never posted here before or are your sarcasm detection skills that bad?

My apologies if you have Asperger’s or something similar but that’s the only way you’re getting a pass on that one.

Seems you are focusing on the first three sentences and totally ignoring (or simply not comprehending) the all-important fourth.

I agree it was a bizarre post way out of left field. And although I don't always get FryIowa's sense of humor, I get that it was meant to be funny.

Hey, I was in the navy. Believe me, it's been tried before. ;)
