Who is Devon Archie?

I thought that everyone that saw practice said this kid has no offensive skills and was going to be a liability? I finally watched yesterday's game and that kid has some talent!

Archie still seems fairly raw but he's active, and effective around the basket with put-backs, rebounds, etc. We're definitely getting more out of him than I had anticipated.

He's been a pleasant surprise, and can hopefully can continue to contribute as the competition gets tougher.

The thing about Archie is that you never really saw the energy he has shown the last few games before. Fran has him playing the best style for his abilities.

Remember who was saying he has no talent, Hawkeye fans. For the most part, they have nothing good to say about any player. Glass always half empty.

Thats pretty much true, and I'm still sticking by my theory that the commits we have would be better suited at Wiscy or even Licks system.

Be nice if he could be like a Reggie Evans type with more hops
He's not close to Reggie.

What he does bring is energy, a knack for getting up by the rim. He is still lacking some BB skills and IQ, but I love his energy. One of his underrated skills is his passing. He is a tremendous passer out of the post, something Iowa desperately needs.

I'd like to see him get about 10-16 min per game, maybe even start. He's not a go-to guy. But does a lot of "glue" things for this teams that will help out.

Been impressed w/ him

IMO, the difference is Fran's ability to bring the best out of his players and key in on what the individual player can do and then use that to the team's advantage. All a sign of a great coach...

We knew Archie could run and jump.
We did not know that he had decent hands, and is a good passer.
Those are the attributes that can take him from just a raw energy guy to a guy who can actually be useful.
He still gets pushed around in the paint, not a solid base.
He is shooting free throws better, thankfully.
He cannot score outside of 3 ft,but he really seems to know his limitations, which is critical for any role player to contribute in money time.

Looks like he has raw athletic ability. The question is does he have the work ethic to do much with it. It will all boil down to that. Needs a lot of development.

He clearly is not a natural and looks a lot like a thinner Doug Thomas. Around the hoop might be good, just can't do much with the ball hitting the floor and has hands of steel at times.
