Who gets the Chris Street Award?

In terms of aggressive play and attitude, a willingness to leave it all on the court, floor burns on your knees and elbows and all, Zach is much like Chris Street was. Social media was not around then but if it had been and some dumb-*** Iowa fans got on him for missing a game-tying shot in a critical game, I have little doubt Chris might have gone online and said something similar.

Some hypocrites on here need to stop with their phony outrage over Zach's tweet; unfortunate, but those fans who were getting on a hard-working Hawkeye who only did what his coach asked him to do should go suck a big fat tailpipe with the engine running.

I vote Zach.

Well i think it should go to a top player since Street was good. So Marble or White should be the guys eligible.

People trying to give it to McCabe are inventing fake ways to give him an award.

Stokes seems like a great recipient of the award. He might have improved more than anyone on the team due to hard work. Hell he earned a scholarship.

You obviously don't understand what the Street award is about.

I believe it will end up with Adam. Everything I have read on him indicates he works hard in practice, is very supportive of the team and is the first guy to cheer on a teammate.

How many times have we seen him fighting for loose balls, diving on the floor or setting a pick that results in a basket? The kid hussles and is always moving.

Actually I do, I am 34 years old so I remember Street.

He died tragically young.
He was a relentless worker.
He was a great teamate supporting and getting along with everyone on the team.
He was great in dealing with young and old Iowa fans.
He was a home grown Iowan

I am just calling out how the stupidity of Iowa fans trying to pick who on the team should receive the award.

I said Stokes is pretty much everything Street was about. Stokes has worked his butt off being a walkon and not getting all the luxuries the full scholarship players get while putting in just as much time. He worked so hard that he was awared a scholarship with the understanding it wold be taken away if Fran found a player to use it. He was fine with that, WHAT A GREAT TEAMATE and TRUE HAWKEYE!

Then someone has to be an *** an say because Stokes doesn't play he should not win the award. What a STUPID comment. This kid is a true hawk, laid it on the line to help the team improve. Heck from starting at your base skills to how you finish as a player he might have improved more than anyone on the team. He just was not as talented as McCabe was to start. It does not mean that Stokes has not improved more than McCabe. The same way that McCabe will never be as good as Marble or White. I don't hold it against McCabe or Stokes as they just did not start out with as much talent. No matter how hard they work or play they just are not going to be better than some players.

So my retort to Stokes doesn't play so McCabe should win the award is just a dumb comments.

Well if its based on talent then White or Marble should win the award and not McCabe because McCabe is not as good as either of them. Stokes was not good enough to win it vs. McCabe due to talent so McCabe should not win it before White or Marble due to talent.

I just love to call out poor and hypocritical comments.

It's like the fan criteria has changed. Why can't a 4 year walk on or bench player win the award.

They are just as much TRUE HAWKEYES as guys who play 15 - 32 minutes a game. They just are not as talented but they have to work just as hard.

That is my take so don't tell me I don't understand the award. I think some fans DON'T understand the award and the team concept that many preach. The team involves any player on the bench in uniform in my opinion.

If you can't see that I don't know what to tell you.

Settle down fella...

In your original comment you said and I quote "Well i think it should go to a top player since Street was good. So Marble or White should be the guys eligible."

I'm pretty sure that is where his comment of not understanidng the importance of the award and to highlight the hard work.

Now if you think Stokes deserves the award, that's fine and I think we can understand that he worked hard to earn his scholarship but it contradicts your original statement that you believe it should go to one of the top players.
