canidates:

1) jvb - now expected to shoulder the load without a proven rb.

2) canzeri - a smallish rb that could be #1 but might be better suited as a change of pace.

3) johnson - now expected to step up and become the back he was thought to be.

4) garmon - could walk right into 200 carries.

5) bullock - may have to stay rb because of depth issues when he had shown lots of promise at wr (so much he was #3 or 4 on depth chart).

6) wrs & tes - need to step up and be the talents they were projected to be in what could be a pass first team.

7) ol - need to make big holes for inexperienced rbs.

8) defense - must rebound without a proven rb to eat up clock.

9) coaches - get a rb ready. wait check that multiple rbs ready (just in case). and adapt to the circumstances.

if you can think of any more be sure to have a write in vote.

How about the option of letting Vandenberg run the no huddle offense like he did against Pittsburgh. Canzeri could be effective in the occassionaly draw or coming out of the backfield on swing passes.

this only works in small bits. teams that run uptempo also have bad defenses and though they can score a lot they also give up a lot. look at leach when at texas tech or okie st or others. our defense was already struggling this year and next year it could again be down so we need to work clock and keep them off the field so they can do their best when they are on the field.

no huddle is not the answer. our approach isnt broken just ask bama (same system on offense). we just havent been consistent enough with our defense not playing as well.

No-huddle isn't a long-term answer. But for next season it's probably our best shot at competing. The defense is going to be bad no matter what we do offensively. It wasn't very good for most of this year, and we lose the best and most consistent guys (Binns, Daniels, Nielsen, Bernstine, Prater).

Our only chance is to try and outscore our opponents. Let Vandy do what he does best.

Ha! TM...isn't that the point of the game!:D

Quite a few folk will miss him. He seemed to be a fine young man, gifted athletically and academically. Hate to think what our record would have been without his contributions, achieved while sacrificing his body and soul to the football Gods.....

Without knowing the fine print on this debacle, it certainly appears that M. Coker was unfairly treated by the administration, and became a scapegoat for prior problems in the past, perpetrated by others.....

I just think hope for next year, things weren't looking that great, but with Coker there was a chance of having a shonn greene type year. If that happened we might of been able to have a descent year. That's gone now
