Which stings worse for you guys?

Ferentz's awful run against ISU in the early years of his career or Ferentz's awful run against the NU/Indy's of the world in the past half decade or so?

Easier to dismiss the ISU string.

It is very hard for me to accept the continuous struggles with bottom tier B10 teams.. the Minn game last year also still galls me.

I realize the Ferentz has put a pretty good record together but I have never had confidence in any of his teams. Last year was fun and all but it was the most dissatisfying 9-0 run in the history of football.

This team is now essentially 6-4 (Indiana was a loss in my book) and staring at a probable 6-5 after next week. Anyone thinking we will roll Minnesota is deluded. I can see a potential collapse to finish the season 6-6

No one before this season would have imagined we would lose to AZ, Wi, IND, NW, OSU

The NU fallout stings more I think. But the ISU losses are a trend and a part of the big picture. The 2002 loss was just as much a killer (if not a bigger killer) than any of our 3 losses this year.

This current streak hurts worse for me because I only saw the 2002 ISU game (I was 12 at the time, and that's when I started closely following the Hawks). But ISU wasn't too bad in that 5-year run, and that was a low point for us. Northwestern is hardly a bad program these days, but we are on one of our "highs" (or at least I thought we were), and we still can't beat them.

NW isn't even a trophy game. Not for Ferentz, anyways.

To me, the NW losses sting a lot worse. First, I no longer live in Iowa. Second, NW is a big ten team and losing to them means a conference loss and a chance at the B10 title. Third, I generally watch Iowa v. NW every year (Kinnick or Ryan Field) and it sucks in either location.

I've seen lots of Iowa games in many locations. Yesterday may have been an all time low as far as...well...everything. Thoroughly miserable.

I was bummed when ISU beat us in 2002, but Iowa went 8-0 in the B10 that year.

NW has really hammered our aspirations two years in a row.

IT'S TIME WE START REGARDING THE NW GAME AS A RIVALRY. THEY'LL BE IN OUR DIVISION. THEY BEAT US EVERY YEAR. MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN ISU. WHY WORRY ABOUT NEBBY WHEN NW OWNS US???

I pretty much expected that loss yesterday and was completely resigned to it when Iowa was only up 10 going into the fourth, but I think the 2005 NU game was way, way worse of a loss than yesterday's. And the 2009 loss to NU was pretty bad, too, as was the 2008 loss to them. They all stung pretty bad, but yesterday's was at best the third most bitter loss to NU.

You know it's bad when we can rank the bitterness, by year...
