Which ex-Iowa player and/or assistant coach, which went on to become a head coach in FBS football, reminds you most of current Iowa assistant coach Brian Ferentz.

Can't decide.

Time will tell, but for now I'm going with Bielema. People forget, but BB was inexperienced going into his DC position at Wisconsin and took over the HC job after only 2 seasons as DC with the Badgers.

Imagine if BF took over the HC at Iowa in 2 years....that's basically what BB did at Wisconsin.

I figured @Joshbrown would be doing this but then I remembered he doesn’t know anything about football outside a bunch of vague, subjective opinions about the Hawkeyes.

Not sure on this one but I've seen multiple high school coaches take over with no experience and run similar plays to what Iowa does. Maybe them?

Playing Tecmo Bowl on NES when I only had 4 options on offense: By the way, don't those pass diagrams look very Greg Davis like?

Francis X. Lauterbur was an unsuccessful head football coach (pre-Hayden Fry) of Iowa football. Commings was another.. All Iowa HCs between Evashaveski and Fry were unsuccessful (1961-1978). I used the assist of a Wikipedia article for a lot of the info in this post. I do, however, remember the reigns (if one wants to call them that) of Commings and Lauterbur (not Evy, so much).

Side note: It seems the Iowa fan base was determined to find a successful Iowa football program the likes of Evashaveski's after Evy retired and, when that didn't happen, quickly tried to move on to the next 'superstar' head football coach. Now it seems, the Iowa fan base is determined to maintain a mediocre football program to satisfy their desire for consistency and replace that desire with the, IMO, needed desire for excellency in the program.
