Brian wasn't hired, he was promoted. There is no HR stipulation for internal promotions....
Are you seriously trying to compare what happened at Penn State to Kirk at Iowa?Working from this logic why can't Kirk promote him to Co-headcoach? I don't see anything preventing Kirk from doing that and then staying home 6 days a weak and hanging with the wife while Brian becomes the defacto HC . . . with Kirk just being a figurehead who pulls down approx. 5 million per year (I'm sure with perks and bonuses that number is low)
Now I'm not saying he will do that, I'm just pointing out that if your comment is true it just reinforces there are no checks and balances. And what's worse, nobody who matters has a problem with that.
As I've stated before. We now have a Joe Paterno situation at Iowa. Joe Pa was a decent person . . . that is until he was given absolute power. And what does absolute power do to ALL men? It corrupts them.
Unfortunately, yes I think he is.Are you seriously trying to compare what happened at Penn State to Kirk at Iowa?
Yes. And dean said that in his postBrian wasn't hired, he was promoted. There is no HR stipulation for internal promotions....
Yes, but take note. JB only makes sense when he's trying to be funny. When he's trying to be serious then you get this stuff. Are you seriously trying to compare what happened at Penn State to Kirk at Iowa?

If true, I like the pickup. Minnesota's run game was pretty strong under him, and while they didn't dominate games, KJ Maye and Drew Wolitarsky were pretty solid receivers that developed under him.Saw today that Minnesota's former WR Coach is now following most of the Iowa staff on twitter. Brian Anderson, looks like he was with Jerry Kill at all of his previous coaching spots as well. I believe I read that he had been recruiting the Georgia area as well.

Well.....now that guy has unfollowed all of the Iowa staff members that he WAS following just earlier today.
The plot thickens.....
It is a 2 pronged process.
1 - put the word out among the coaching world, look for recommendations and interview them and they interview Iowa.
2 - Post a job publicly, review applicants (including those in #1), see if there is anyone there they want to talk to. Interview them.
Most likely the final 2 candidates for each job come from #1.
You have to be thorough in hiring. Bad hires are expensive in many ways.
