Where are the replacements for Kennedy and White?

You know damn well they have these choices nailed down at this point right? Wouldn't you want to send a message to the Oliver Martin's of the world that we have solid offensive coaching staff? What the hell...it's January and signing day is right around the corner. I have no problem with the move of Brian to OC, but these decisions are important too. I'm hoping we see something this coming week.

broken vending machines on the sidelines at games and wearing whistles at practice, vast improvement over those two guys.

Job posting has to be up for 14 days I believe. The posting began when Greg Davis stepped down. So that was 1 new position being hired, so they need a posting. Now they have 2 others as well.

You don't have to post if you are just moving position coaches, IE when Morgan moved from OL to DL, or like now when Brian moved from OL to OC, just have to post for a "new assistant" hire (IE a new coach to replace Davis).

Are any of Kirk's sons looking for a job? Is James available? Hire him on. Hell get Mary in there as well. What a joke.
I have no problem with KF's kin being coaches on his staff. What I have a problem with is the ability of said kin to be effective coaches at Iowa. Will they be, for example, just mouthpieces of KF? <It seems there are a lot of mouthpieces of KF on this board and the DSM Register newspaper, for example.> If true, then I do have a problem with KF's kin being coaches under KF since KF's ability as HC is questionable, IMHO.

Our issue extends WAY beyond losing another quality in-state recruit at receiver ie. Arrington, Darbouh, French, likely Martin. I'm encouraged if KF opens these positions up to get THEE BEST possible position coach/recruiter we just haven't had anyone that instills GREAT recruiting prowess for years at Iowa....it's why we are going to finish sub 50's in recruiting class yet again. Now that we've lost everyone we really wanted we are now issuing those last minute offers to kids who have accepted MAC, or FCS D-1 scholarships and we will get 1 of those that develops into a stud. While MIke Riley at Nebby fires 3 guys (due to pressure to win now) and then pulls in a top flight WR from Ohio State. Why we can't sell playing time with some quality is just poor salesmanship.

It'll be interesting where we finish. How many other schools that land a 5 star stud will have a class lower then 40? This class had top 20 promise to it too.... Such a crappy way to end the year overall... I dunno I hate to say let's have the 'long term' view of this but I kinda think that's what's going on here. With the overhall of the offensive coaching staff new QB next yr it'll be a reboot of sorts and even though our Oline and Wadley should be great it won't be enough to do much better than this year was... (tougher schedule to boot) But in 2-3 yrs with staff more solidified Brian having his feet wet with Stanley getting experience maybe that's when we'll get to see how the 'changes' really will look.

Yes I tend to agree. With the openings there is an opportunity here to do something special bring some new blood in that have demonstrated abilities that you need RECRUITING RECRUITING RECRUITING. Would love to see an excitable up and coming QB coach and a tenacious recruiter that could bring in even guys that turn out to be MAC studs. Somehow those top schools have some freaky good WR and a QB that can wing it and they turn in 11-12 win seasons once experienced. Stanley, with all that ability, won't be able to do crap unless we start getting some guys catching the ball that instill some fear in opposing D's.

Why don't you get Jamie Pollard and Tracy Claeys for the jobs? You're tight with those guys.

Kennedy was a massive dud, but with White at least we had productive RBs. Is it his doing? Probably not, but unless you have good examples of how he was detrimental to our running backs you should probably stick to commenting on the weather.

Your answer to White's departure can be found here...........

Definitely not enough attention span to listen to a podcast, especially one containing Glenn Beck's man child (for the record, I'm not picking sides. Throw them all in the river).

Meanwhile, back to football.

I know exactly why the guy got fired and would have fired him myself for lying to me. But based strictly on the performance of his position players, White had productive results on the field. @thetrza is talking out of his butt.

So you are saying the job posting has to be posted for 14 days before they hire someone?? Really, it sure wasn't 14 days before they hired BRian F. In the end they were probably going hire BF but as I said before it would have been nice and kosher to maybe look at some other applicants.

Brian wasn't hired, he was promoted. There is no HR stipulation for internal promotions....

He just has to continue 'reporting to Barta' That's such a load of crap though. If he has a beef with his Dad he can go to Barta to cry it out? Yeah that's not how it works. If Dad were to want to fire Brian he'd have to have Barta do it... I see why it's that way but it's pretty insulting if anyone thinks that's how it actually is..
You'd think that wouldn't be hard for people to comprehend. If you've ever worked anywhere that has a ladder to climb it's no different. Those already an employee get first 'dibs' If they don't pick any one then they go to having to post it to outsiders..

It wasn't 14 days for Cal..........announced Sonny Dykes leaving 1/8 and announced about a week later that Wilcox was hired or The Gophers............Claeys fired 1/2 and Fleck announced on 1/6.

So this is a compliance regulation unique to Iowa? If it is then Iowa needs to make some changes although I would guess work gets started and in many cases decisions made quickly regardless of what a policy might dictate.

Somewhat related, I wonder if Raih were a hire if they might be hand-tied to announce anything due to GB still being in the playoff picture.

It is an Iowa law.
