When was the last time you felt Iowa had it all put together (or mostly put together)

Looking at Modern History. It probably is safe to say that Iowa's best top modern team probably came from 1985, 2002, and 2009. Certainly many other good and very good Iowa teams mixed in there around and between those years.

What does 2010 have that 1985, 2002, and 2009 does not? And, what is missing from 2010 that these other teams had?

3 things that strike me right away that these others teams excelled at:
-Offensive Line
-At least in 1985 and 2002, they had capable field goal kickers
-1985 and 2002 featured Heisman Candidate Qbs
- Interestingly (not so much to do with the team make up) In 1985, 2002, and 2009, Iowa won an away game in the preseason in each of those years. However, Iowa did not have to go out West against a ranked opponent, and 2 wins came against Iowa St (85 and 09) and Miami of Ohio (02) on the road. Obviously, we had the second half collapse against ISU in 2002 at home.

Feel free to add. Of course we will know more at the end of the year where this Iowa team will rank historically, but does Iowa have the pieces this year that made those other teams so special? I have to think the D-line this year has to be very special and the stuff championship team are made out of.

I don't know if this team has it all put together. I do believe if they play average on offense and special teams, that the defense could do most of the job on the way to a 9-10 win season.

As far as having it all put together, probably the 80's with Hartlieb or Long at the Helm.

One of the few problems I have with KF's teams are clock management and having the team ready to go in September.
