When does Ricky go tonight?

2nd or 3rd Round? My hope is he goes to a team with an established QB where he can learn and get some mop up time here or there and get some experience.

I'd love to see him go to the Cowboys in the 3rd round and then have a few years to sit behind Romo and learn. I'd also like to see the Cowboys take Ballard in the 2nd round, fwiw :)

As much as I hate the Patroits, I think the perfect fit for the manzi is the Pats. He would be able to learn under his idol and wouldnt be expected too start too soon.

But first off I'm not sure he will be drafted tonight. Nothing is to be expected in this draft. Hell the guy some people had at the top of their mock draft boards is still availale in Dequan Bowers.

Tomorrow...

This.

There are still 3 QBs (for sure) ahead of him - Dalton, Kaepernick and Mallet.

I would expect Dalton to go third tonight and somebody will panic and pick up Mallet. Kaepernick will sit there until the 3rd round and Stanzi will be a late 4th to early 5th round pick.

Here was my Stanzi take fro what I wrote last night:

Will a team step up to take Ricky Stanzi in the second round? Things were looking good on that front through the first 11 or 12 picks, as Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert and Christian Ponder were all taken in the top 12. Locker went 8th to Tennessee, which was a shocker…Ponder went 12th to the Vikings, which was also a big time surprise.

The more quarterbacks that were taken in the first round, that was going to increase the chances for Stanzi to go in the 2nd round. However, the run on quarterbacks stopped right there and no more were taken in the first round.

Still on the board at that position, along with Stanzi, are Ryan Mallet, Andy Dalton and Colin Caepernick. I think Stanzi will be picked by one of these three teams; New England, Indianapolis or Kansas City. New England has three picks in the second round (33,56,60) while Indianapolis has one (53) and the Chiefs have one (55).

If Stanzi goes in the 2nd round, I will say it will be to New England. If I had to wager on him going second or third round as of late Thursday night, I would predict the third round.

Here is Wes Bunting's mock 2nd round draft, where he has Patriots taking Stanzi at 60th pick (late 2nd)

NFL Network is saying if Mallett and Dalton get picked right away tonight Kepernick and Stanzi will be gone in the 2nd round. Teams don't want to risk missing out.

This was my thought after the vikings pick in the 1st round last night. I felt that two more QB's would go in the 1st and that Stanzi would be a second round lock...but the frenzy stopped at four.

If anything NE will pick Stanzi at 60. Kiper was talking about Stanzi being pick by the Pats, not directly but brought up Stanzi while the clock was ticking.

Kaepernick went... my bad.. everyone remembers Colt Brennan killing in the WAC... howd he do in the NFL?

Yeah he his more athletic, but he still made his claim to fame against some for worst defense in the NCAA.

2 gone already. Stanzi tonight is a guarantee.

Yeah I gotta say I didn't expect him in 2, but it looks like its going to happen. But it's a given as of now that he'll at least go in 3.

The whole thing is the uncertainty of signing free agency, so great year to be a QB.

I think he is going to slide to 79 for the Dolphins. I hope that happens selfishly. I think Mallet will go before him late in the 2nd.

Well Looks like NE traded down to #73. so no ricky by sixty.

Well, looks like the 3rd round. Given who has already been taken, I think Ricky still goes in the 3rd. Still possible he goes ahead of Mallett, but I would doubt it. Both NE and Washington moving back may be thinking about taking him and thinking they can get him later.

Not sure who all has picks in the 3rd, but I wouldn't count out Buffalo, SF, or Miami.
