When Did We Stop Calling It The Two-Minute Warning?

Honest question, I’ve noticed this year for the first time no announcers or staff are calling it that. It’s two-minute timeout now and I have no idea when/why that happened…I’m dumb.

College for some dumb reason decided to call it the Two Minute time out.

The NCAA wanted to distance itself from the NFL when they introduced the 2 minute warning in college. So they mandated it be called the Two minute timeout

Two minute warning is an NFL thing that's meant to notify the teams that rule changes that go into effect in the last 2 minutes of a half are now in effect.

The 2 minute time-out, brand new to college just this year, is not meant to notify teams of anything. It's just a timeout. A completely unnecessary one if you asked me.
