when ddi we discover the blitz?

wow its worked the last few games.... wish we'd had discovered this more the last 10 years...

Blitz has been burned as well (ISU was one example). Experienced LBs look like they time their blitzes very well as the season has went on.

we have never blitzed in the Ferentz era as much as we have the last few games.

And its worked so well.

Are the linebackers better at it? That makes sense but regardless these types of blitzes have rarely if ever been called in the Ferentz era.

I believe the experience of the LBs is part of the decision making. Also, they need to trust the DBs as well. It will be interesting to see if this continues next year.

We've consistently blitzed more under Phil Parker, including this year. I loved Norm, but this is Phil's show now.

It didn't hurt that they were against Nebby's third-string quarterback. That's not to take anything away from what Phil and his boys did and great job, guys, but just sayin ...

Well said. The thing about blitzing, the more you do it, the better you get at it (and disguising it). Plus, it gets the opponent thinking about it, even if you don't do it. wtg Phil Parker

They perfected it today..but as mentioned, yes against a banged up team (but THAT is the reason you as a coach choose to use it). so yes, banged up, but brilliant in calling and execution....Also, it has a lot more to do with the confidence in our DBs, which is a group that developed nicely over the year, to allow for the successful blitzing.

If T-Maniac had played. We may have schemed a little differently. And Kellogg did seem to read it well for a couple series.

Bigger success factor was when we pressed a little with the DBs.

The blitz is like crack cocaine for the football fan. You see it work a little bit and you want so much more. It is extremely risky, but it was a beautiful thing today.
