I am tired of all the rumor crap, I am ready to get back to talking some Hawkeye football with real Hawk fans.
What is everyone's favorite bowl game memory? I know there are the obvious ones, but I have a few that maybe are special to me or different reasons.
My first two real memories were of the Holiday Bowls in 86 and 87. I remember listening to both of them on the radio as a kid, listening to Zabel ask us to give our radios a big hug and kiss when both games went down to the last play of the game.
The 91 Holiday Bowl is also very special for me. My parents had just gotten us cable for Christmas, they hooked it up the night before the game and I was stoked to be watching the game on ESPN. I remember BYU throwing an interception in the end zone in the final minute and Iowa escaping with a tie. If I remember correctly, a key defensive player was injured in that game (Leroy Smith?)?
And lastly, the 01 Alamo Bowl, when after the win Kirk announced that the Hawkeyes were back. It didn't seem possible that Iowa could be winning a bowl game again when just a few short years earlier they were so far down.
