What's Frans contract situation?

Just stating the obvious here but with the season/tenure he's had so far would/ could his stock be any higher? I could see other schools (maybe pros even) have an interest in him. I know he's a Philly/east coast guy but I have no clue what coaches out that way may be on the hot seat. (Before the season wasn't Syracuse brought up before Boehim had picked his successor pretty much) Outside of that gig I have no clue. Now I think what Iowa has going for it is his boys are teenagers and pretty entrenched with school/hoops themselves. Uprooting them just to move 'up' when they've not only got HS/AAU hoops on the brain but playing at Iowa themselves might be a tough thing to do. I know Fran has years (plural) on his deal yet just didn't know how many and if there was anything he'd possibly be wanting besides more moola to convince him to stay if he were to get a wandering eye.

I would wager he would get a raise..I think he gets an additional year extension automatically each year he makes the dance. I would imagine he has some pretty nice escalators in there for the type of success Iowa is having.

I highly doubt he would want to leave, but I'm sure he's going to get a handsome financial package after this season, regardless.

We're a Big 10 school... not a stepping stone.

Unless a Duke, UNC, Kansas, Kentucky... schools of that nature would open up and start calling, Fran will be here for the long run.

^^ I think this is about correct and add in his wife is from MN and Fran met her at Notre Dame they may really like the midwest rather that crazy east coast stuff.

Both sons are playing great in high school and going to summer camps and playing all star squads.

If Fran's incentives in a season like this gets him close to 2 Mil a year and he has a good few years always on his contract what is not to like.

Maybe Fran can get to the point where he can get the students down closer the floor surrounding much of the court.

I believe Connor signs on the dotted line around this time next year. Once he's signed on at Iowa, I'm assuming Fran stays at Iowa for as long as his kids are there, which by then he'll be in his 60's.

Just gotta hang on one more year! :)

Notre Dame is the only school that would concern me if they came calling. I couldn't see him going anywhere else. Especially after Connor and Patrick arrive in Iowa City. That can't happen soon enough.

Pretty much a lifetime one at this point.

He will get whatever it takes to keep him here, barring a pricetag beyond ridiculousness.

He gets an extra $25K bonus for reaching the NCAA tournament but an extra $100K if he wins either the regular season title or the tournament.

If he keeps this up, I'll hire Kurt's agent to personally negotiate his new contract. And i won't think twice about it.

It's prolly written in Braille,so those of us can't read it.

So, it's really none of our business.
Gentleman and the ladies, How about them Hawks?

To Ralph & Lute, Iowa was a stepping stone.

Wrong.

Ralph left after some promises were broken re facilities, I believe. Someone with more knowledge of that time could clarify, as I was born in 1965 but do recall hearing that.

Lute left because of the micro attention he received in the fishbowl that is Iowa sports and not to use Arizona, a lesser program at the time, as a stepping stone. However, he knew he would be able to make them a power, as there was a vacuum at UCLA at that point in time and recruiting on the entire west coast was wide open, as Ralph Miller wasn't going to pull too many Cali kids up to OSU. Recruiting there would be much easier for getting high end talent than at Iowa, where he was competing with IU, Illinois, Purdue, etc. One could make the case that Arizona was a stepping stone for Lute. I think really he looked at it as a literal move for a better lifestyle for his family in terms of the climate, media scrutiny, etc.

I don't think he would move to LA, but the UCLA job will be open in the next year or two. They are regressing each year under SA.
