What would you prefer?

My brother and I have thought about this hypothetical. Would you want Iowa in the CFB playoff or in the Rose Bowl? I say Rose Bowl. You could have both I suppose in a year where the Rose is one of the games. But that ever elusive Rose Bowl and a win in it is somethingI have always wanted.

Rose Bowl is now 2nd tier to CFP. (You can toss in Orange, Sugar, Fiesta, Cotton too)

Used to mean a lot. Not so much now.

CFP is the hallmark of a great season.

The Rose Bowl bears zero resemblance to what it was in the eighties and prior. None.

In today's world of a thousand bowl games any team with a winning record gets to play and it doesn't mean anything other than advertising dollars. I understand it's tougher to make the Rose Bowl than the Insight Bowl, but come on. You'd honestly trade a shot at a championship because you haven't gotten over losing the Rose bowl 30 years ago?

To me, the Rose Bowl is like Christie Brinkley. Maybe not quite like it once was, but I've wanted it for so long, I wouldn't turn it down and would probably choose it over something that may actually be better.

Close call but my son lives 30 minutes from Pasadena, so I would go with that. Win-win situation. No bad choice there.

I can respect tradition, but why would you want to root for your team to end up anywhere but the Championship?

My opinion while Rose Bowl symbolically meant being the best in the BigTen, I'd rather have my sites set on being best in the nation and earn that playoff birth. Side note: I also feel that our BCS births rank right up there with a Rose Bowl selection.
