What would be your Offensive game plan for Illinois

I would start off up tempo with both Young and Goodson in the backfield. Spread them out with 3 wide and go heavy play action and power run game straight ahead, no zone scheme to start with.

I would do everything in my power to break all tendencies and be aggressive. Illinois has some athletes and has shown they are capable of coming from behind. It will be very important to keep them off balance and stay away from negative plays. I would also throw in a trick play, which we haven't seen in awhile (Flea Flicker, Double pass, etc)

You're right on the money, 102. Illinois thrives on 2 things: turnovers and TFL. Basic runs to the outside will result in negative yards vs this team, as they have great lateral speed. Get behind the chains vs Ill and that's when TOs happen. I actually like the idea of starting Young vs Illinois and doing some straight-ahead power runs, along with some speed handoffs to Smith-Marsette/misdirection to keep their LBs guessing. I look for KF to go pretty conservative on offense with Ill's turnover #s, figuring if the Hawks can break even on TOs they can win the game. A bigger issue will be whether Parker is willing to dial up some blitzes to make their QB uncomfortable...he's slightly more mobile than Stanley and has better straight-line speed, but is more prone to passing mistakes when pressured than even Stanley.

I’d put 19 lineman on the field with Nate Stanley and throw it to the back up tackle on a tackle eligible play. Totally catch them off guard.

A couple of thoughts, after watching the dvr of the Iowa/Mn game and thinking ahead to ILL.
Last year, I really thought Sargent played well for us. Some good moves, and really finished runs for extra yards. Showed some good quickness. Good pass protector, or could catch the ball out of the backfield. Do not know why the difference this year?

Secondly, announcers were really impressed with Stanley’s play and Iowa’s wide receivers. And, they said that MN’s RPO was coupled with inside/outside zone blocking scheme. Interesting.

This all sounds great but Iowa will do what Iowa does. Hopefully the OL plays well.

I’d look at last years tape of the 63-0 shutout and play they exact same scheme. If it worked then, it will work again.

I expect a rather familiar game plan. However if Goodson is playing there is a chance for explosive run plays...and with Tracy now more zip in the passing game.
